I would say that Knoxville and West Liberty are within 200' of each other in distance around the track. With West Liberty being slightly shorter.

For those of you who have seen West Liberty what track do you think it most closely resembles that The Outlaws run?  Been a long time since I've been there (probably 20 years) but from what I remember it's a big half miles with not much banking in the corners.

Schatz compares it to Rolling Wheels in an article I read on the event.

Good question... am wondering how many 410 races have even been held there where they would've timed???  I'm thinking there was maybe an open 410 show or All Star show from the late 90's... maybe?  As someone noted above, the Sprint Invaders have had a few shows there over the past few years... I attended one of them... decent show.

As near as I can tell, West Liberty has not hosted a 410 sprint show since late 70s/early 80s.   Definately NOT in the late 90s....I was working the weekly LM show there back then and would have remembered.   (and probably still be grinning ear to ear thinking about it)

The current track record was most likely set mid to late 2000s during a Lucas Oil or UMP summer Nationals show.   My guess is upper 16s somewhere....my guess for QT tomorrow is low 15s.    The track has a unique turns 1 & 2,  the LMs frequently used a double apex approach by going in high, cutting down before the first tree and then turning again coming off the corner.  All divisions treated the frontstretch as one big arc, coming off T4 low and drifting to the wall around the flagstand before setting up for T1.     I would LOVE to be standing on the backstretch at the end of turn 2 to watch all the different opinions on the fast way around....my guess is that a few will nail it and be 3-4 seconds a lap quicker than everyone else with most of the difference coming in T1 & 2.

I wonder if Mr Schatz has his tracks mixed up.    I do not remember the WoO LMs running WL in 2016 as the article states and cannot find the event on the WoO 2016 results page.   Schatz did run 12th at the Webster City Iowa track on July 7th, 2016.

According to my GPS measurements, I have West Liberty at .498 mile and Knoxville at .515 (both measured at the midpoint between the inside berm and outside wall.   I have results from 3 410 races at West Liberty:  7-22-99 (Won by Manny Rockhold), 7-19-01 (won by Terry McCarl) and 7-17-03 (won by Kerry Madsen).  I also show one scheduled for 2002 that was rained out.

I saw Bobby DavisJr finish 1st in April 1983 while driving the Gambler house car but the victory was given to 2nd place finnisher Doug Wolfgang  They said Davis jumped a restart.

John,  what was sanctioning for the 3 races you show at West Liberty?    Does your info show a promoter?

I have no idea how those got past me,

The late July dates suggest those were Muscatine County Fair shows,  they were probably promoted by the fair but are we sure they were 410?

Manny Rockhold and Kerry Madsen didn't run many (if any) 360 shows... so I'm guessing it was open comp 410...

The one outside of the stands next to the ticket office has very good tenderloins. Bigger and better than the tracks in my opinion.

I agree, the ones sold outsite the track are better.   I've had the one across the street from the track next to the HyVee parking lot at the Nationals and it's very good.    The track's tenderloin ain't bad at all, especially if you get one made fresh.   Last year on the Wednesday night of the Nats I got one of the tracks, and I honestly think it must have been left over from the 360 Nationals and reheated.

I believe those were McTwo Promotions/King of the Hill races.

WTF. There was a delay at the track because of possible contaminated fuel in the fuel truck. They let teams drain tanks, etc. as a precaution. New one to me.

Fuel spilled? Yep heard of that. Contaminated fuel!?! Again, that's a new one.

Rumor has it the regular track supplier mixed race gas with methanol
