Why is everyone butt hurt about this? Yes the guy got arrested, but so did Kenny Weld back in the day. Nobody complained when he raced after getting out of jail for selling drugs. And correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Walker race a bunch after his arrest in California. And did that go without any incident? If the guy is clean let him race. I don't see what the big deal is.

Drivers said testing is needed over a year ago...Schatz, Saldana, Rahmer, Lance... Etc.
Why didn't Walker race with the outlaws on the western swing?
What will be said at the drivers meeting at Port?
Lincoln 1845 ft/.35 mile T1=118MPH
Eldora 2287 ft/.43mile T3=135MPH
Port 2716 ft/.51 mile T3=TBD
Grove 2792 ft/.53 mile T3=135MPH
Selinsgrove 2847 ft/.54 mile T1=136MPH

weather." Van May

He was born to race. Let the boy race.
|
Was as good as any at one time.Hope it goes well. There will people come to watch him and that what promoters need to make it work. He blew his chance with Nascar as the talent was there.Second and third chances need to be made the best of as they arent easy to get.Wish him the best.

His last stint in Ca he wasn't very fast. This ain't a youthful talented young man anymore, but a middle aged man on the decline. I
would be suprised if he can muster a top ten any where in Pa.

The first thing that should be done before he is allowed to race (especially with his history) is a drug test. Only fair to everyone involved (track, other drivers and fans).
|
Better test every driver enterring the pits that night then....otherwise the lawyers would be chomping at the bit for that one.

If I remember correctly he was pretty fast during his last stint in CA with Lee Lindgren. Think they had a couple podiums and won a race or two. Not too shabby for being away so long. Having Lee helped obviously but I think they were pretty fast (I'll have to look it up when I have more time).
I'd also be surprised if he cracks a Top Ten during an event which is sure to have a stout field in PA where he hasn't raced in years in a car he's never been in before. But if he makes the A both nights that's a solid weekend for not being in a sprint car in a year or so, again in PA, against a stout field.

Did a VERY quick cursory search and here's the KWS schedule + quick stats from 2015 (yes I know it was two years ago, but this was his "last stint in CA"). Tyler had 3 KWS feature wins, good for second most after Kyle Hirst. As I said above he did have some speed during his last stint. Obviously not setting the world on fire, but still some solid outings.

Not a lawyer my self but I have to believe that a racetrack holds the ultimate responsibility of who races and who doesn't.
However, I guess those not allowed to race or those who feel targeted could move forward with legal action that could potentially be very time consuming and costly.
Regardless, if a track wanted to test TW to race, one would hope he would be perfectly fine doing so - he has to be cognizant of his past.

Glad to see this. Hopefully he has been staying clean and runs well. So much talent that you'd hate to see it go to complete waste. I wish him the best running back in PA.
This isn't intended to spiral this thread out of control but I have a question. Everyone has seen the video from the pits at Williams Grove with Walker, but I've never actually heard what happened on track to provoke all of that. Does anyone have a non-biased opinion of what happened on track that night? I apologize in advance if this brings up any painful memories . Just curious now that I've actually been to PA and seen Williams Grove in person.
|
He went into the infield slightly to avoid a stopped car, sent to back. i thought he got screwed myself (but I don't know alll the rules)
Thing is, he totally lost his cool over it!
Hope he's got his act together & does well, he's better off as a racer than another dangerous tweaker....

"Great to see him back behind the wheel."
"Hopefully he has gotten over his previous issues."
"He has so much talent."
"He deserves another shot."
I feel like those statements have been on repeat for the last 15 years. I do not look forward to him stepping foot into a sprint car. He's used up his mulligans and then some.
|
You would prefer for taxpayers to support him in prison?
He was a screwup, not a murderer. As many chances as it takes him to get it together, more power to him

I am a fan of watching Tyler race and I'm excited to see how he does. That being said, this guys character is in major question. Not just from the drugs and arrest but also for his temporment when things dont go his way. I'm sure he's on a zero tolerance policy and his trip out East will be short lived if he screws up again.

His last stint was in the 3c car, not the 88.

Yep you're right. Forgot about that. Didn't show up (literally) and now Netto is in the 3C. My mistake, buuuttt he did show some good speed in the 88, albeit it two years ago. Thanks for jarring the memory...cheers.

I'm pretty sure Clyde Lamar has been happy with Netto in the car regardless of what caused the change as he has been nothing short of exceptional behind the wheel of the 3c car. ALL of Walker's most ardent supporters whent completely radio silent after he didn't show up at Watsonville "because the Cadillac broke down" which tells me that there was far more to the story. If you enjoy a same shit - different day situation Tyler Walker will be a good choice if you are a car owner who wants him to drive or somebody who wants to carry on the hope that the distant brilliance will somehow resurface.

Correct me if i'm wrong but hasn't Tyler and the Weikert memorial had a connection for awhile? Seems like Tyler drove the Weikert paint schemed car years back? Just wondering if he has a connection to someone that helped get him a ride for this race.

I'm sure Clyde is happy with DJ as well, great young talent (one of so many youngsters in CA right now). Plus brings some backing from family biz. Never said he was or wasn'y happy with DJ, just that I forgot for a second Tyler was in the 3C.

No, I guess it sounded like that, which would be a stretch
I just think that if he gets his act together, he should be encouraged. He loves racing, he's good at it, I say give him a chance (if he passes drug test)
Hopefully he could be OK as an "ordinary person" but people should be able to pursue their talents & interests

I'm guessing you'll be suprised then. Tyler has shown plenty of speed in his most recent showings. The only time he looked bad was in the JFM 73 and not to disrespect JFM, but that car typically goes backward with a wing on it, no matter the driver, and there have been plenty of talented drivers behind the wheel. They're primarily a non-wing team. His most recent ride was the Lamar 3c, one of the best rides in CA. Time will tell I guess.
