A very good friend of mine is involved with the 69K and has been with them since the early 90's. Anyone who thinks they're cheating should just go up and talk to them about it. They're all really nice guys and I'm sure they'd be happy to answer any questions you may have. If you still think they're cheating after you talk to them, you are a total moron and most likely, are just jealous that they're dominating and your guy isn't. That said, they aren't cheating. They're just that damn good.

This is a dream team. What does anyone think was going to happen. Name me 1 driver that would not want DBSr. as a crew chief LD still can wheel a car.

Exactly and a lot of people may not know that Donald himself knows sprint cars better than many crew chiefs out there so they basically have 2 elite crew chiefs working on the car with more combined experience than just about any team in the country. Lance may be a Hall of Fame driver but he isn't exactly a helmet bag driver himself (I'm talking about drivers who show up with their gear and just drive). He has his own shock business and he too could be a hell of a good crew chief in his own right. The rest of the crew on the 69K are all dedicated, knowledgeable and have been with that car for a long time. They're all great people and they're literally like family and Lance fit right in with them from day 1. If ever there was a "Dream team", this one is it and the results prove it.

They say history is bound to repeat itself. This sounds like when Mitch Smith demolished USAC and everybody went crazy about them cheating. And what happened when they tore Smith's engine down? It was well below 305 cubic inches. You got spanked. Get over it!

2005 Grove Allstar Race - Kreitz takes Checkers / DQ'd by Allstar Officials for "being too light"

Lance awarded the win...consternation in the pits as Montieth was also DQ'd for weight.

All kind of hell be reigned down on Kreitzer from Parrish and Donnie's wife who challenged Alan to bring out the track scale to settle the score - to no avail.

Lance from VL - repudiates the call and question the legitmacy of the officiating...stating "they are not a cheater team".

Next night at Lincoln - Parish unloads an untouched 21 car and it makes weight...one of the biggest WTF weekends on Posse Soil.

Wild child crew pushed his car thru the mud in the back pit several times to "make weight" on the third try...

Krietz even admitted in an interview once that the car on many nights was faster than his driving style allowed it to be. Especially in 2012-13.

I was glad to see Stevie Smith get a late career surge and I am just as happy for Lance.

Hey this is off topic abit but did Don ever run a stock car? I can't find anything on the www but I seem to remember a #69 arca car or busch car from back in the day in the familiar blue colors but Maybe I'm just going crazy in my old age.

I remember seeing Don Jr. in a Busch North race at Seekonk Ma. in the late 80's.

Ya they must be cheating because there's no way that one of the best sprint car drivers of all time is winning races with one of the best crew chiefs of all time driving for one of the best race teams in Pa history.

Just another in the long list of cheaters:

Steve + Karl = cheating

Doug Wolfgang + Davey Brown Sr. + Davey Brown Jr + Bob Wiekert = cheating

Doug Wolfgang + Deuce Turrill + Danny Peace = cheating  - and the best use of taxpayer dollars EVER Smile

Keith Kauffman + Al Hamilton = cheating

Donnie Schatz + Rick Warner + Tony Stewart = cheating (and it was cheating before Smoke came along - he just adds to the cheat)

Fred Rahmer + Moon Byers = cheating

Fred Rahmer + Moon Byers + Stevie Smith + Don Ott = cheating

Donnie Kreitz + Davey Brown + Lance Dewease = cheating.

There's more but lunch is almost over.

As an old guy, I am particular fond of when these guys 'cheat' after they appear to be old and washed-up: Fred, Stevie, now Lance. It's good for the soul!

If cheating means you spend extra time on meticulous details without trying to out engineer everyone, then yes all teams listed above were cheating.

Another thing, is if it doesn't say you cannot do it, then b definition, it is legal to do.

Case in point, it detuning an engine on a slick track to reduce wheel spin.  Some people feel this means traction control.  If you are smart enough to know how to "retard" the timing on an MSD without plugging in a little box, and have a driver whose throttle control can suit it, then you have a tactical advantage.

Lance, while, in my opinion, wasn't as exciting or colorful as some others, has a natural ability to drive a free race car and be patient enough to let things come to him then attack when necessary.

I'll argue day and night that Davey Sr is a better mechanic than Karl Kinser.  Only reason Karl is considered greater is because he was on the road more often than Davey so he was able to be in the headlines more often.

Lance is one of the best ever, so glad to see him back in a good car and winning again. Kreitz is probably the best ever dry-slick racer in PA but Lance was always very good on the dry-slicks too.

Yep, Kauffman & Hamilton and especially when Tommy Sanders was the mechanic real early 1984 (until about mid-June). Already had over 20 season wins at that point.

Have nothing but respect for the #69K dream team.  Three very knowledgeable individuals so nothing they accomplish would surprise me!  Lance will be in the Hall very soon!!!

Just to mention again no one said they were cheating or questioned their character at the race. As someone else mentioned it was simply post race tech. The OP really jumped to a conclusion of nefarious actions by another team or individual. It was simply post race tech. Happens nightly at the track. Just hang around and watch.

If you are going to constantly make sense and use logic, I'm afraid you may have to turn in your message board credentials!!! Smile

I am lucky enough to work at one of the best tracks
