I don't think the Matus' and Garvin will do too bad for the majority of the All star schedule besides the Attica and Central PA races because there are more and tougher locals there. Not saying they'll rack off wins by any means but no reason to think that they won't be in the A every now and again.

Don't know anything about the Matus clan, other than they are popular in the western half of the state.  I believe all 3 have won features in a 410 before, mutiples for the Matus's themselves.  I believe that qualifies them, here's to hoping they can surprise soime people when the series comes back north.

Right on. Slow, fast, wins or no wins, they're out there doing something we've all dreamed about yet precious few of us ever get to do. If they were a problem, that's one thing but I've never heard anyone say a bad thing about them and the few times I saw them race, they were way outclassed against the Posse but they stayed the hell out of the way and did their thing. Nothing wrong with that. I guess some people are just miserable and can't stand seeing others do things that they know they could never do. Best of luck to them throughout the season. If we had to rely on millionaires to fill our fields, we'd be shit out of luck. The little guy is the foundation of our sport so more power to them for giving it a go.

Hey, not everybody makes the A, & somebody has to finish last

Why give them a hard time? They're out here risking their lives for our entertainment

Or would you prefer to see Donnie Schatz run laps all by himself?

What's your cut-off for number of teams that you allow?  Or do you just have a thing for this team?

I do not have any ill feeling torwards any teams. My point is instead of running three really slow teams run one!

They are running around the back and are so slow . Bradley howard went home to re group. He kept spinning out . But he did run up front in a heat race and showed some speed.

Cool, so you'll be driving up to Wampum and cutting them a check, correct? I assume you are because surely only someone contributing to a team would be entitled enough to demand the team runs the way they see fit.

The Matus' are good wheelmen and great people.  They may not have been the fastest in Florida, but they aren't squirrels threatening to tear up others equipment. They took a big financial risk towing to Florida, and Im certain the ASCoC management appreciates it, no series wants to host a show that doesn't require a BMain.

Those saying Matus and TSR have the same level of equipment need to get a clue. First of all, TSR is probably putting down 50-75 more horsepower than Matus, a big deal on a fast track like Volusia. TSR also has a huge advantage in shock selection. TSR has hired crew chiefs with years of notes about the track. And MOST IMPORTANTLY if Larson wrecks Tony's ride he climbs out and goes to the next race while the crew fixes the car and Tony pays. If one of the Matus' wrecks THEY spend the time fixing it, and it comes out of THEIR pockets, which are much smaller than TSR's. They simply can't afford to take the same chances in traffic the big money teams can.

Did you ever think maybe they ENJOY racing together? Believe it or not, there's a lot of teams out there that hold the family and companionship aspect of the sport in a higher regard than results and accolades. I don't like going to the races without my dad. It's something we've always done together and it means more to me to just be there with him than anything. Maybe for them, just being there doing it together is more important than where they finish. It's something they obviously do as a family and considering the money they spend on it, I think it's a safe bet that they enjoy doing what they're doing. Like the one poster said, if it means that much to you, head on over to Wampum and cut them a check. Until then, it's none of your damn business what they do with their money or their equipment.

Good point. We should be happy for every driver and team that do it because they enjoy it and love it. Without them there wouldn't be much of a field.

I certainly respect them all. I respect those who do it for pure the love of it, pinching pennies knowing damn well wins will be few and far between if not completely non existent just as much as I respect watching one of the all time greats such as Donny Schatz do it at the highest level possible. But the fact is, without the hobby racers, our sport would've been dead decades ago. We need them just as much as we need the superstars. They're the life blood of the sport. Especially at the local and regional level.

Exactly my point.. they are running around there with 12 heads ... Outlaw, All star or lernerville they are getting trolled!

Brandon is going to be just fine running with the All-Stars. He does own an All-Star win and a couple big wins in Western Pa. Give 'em hell Wheelman!

I can't speak from the sprint car aspect, but I do participate throughout the Northeast Autocrossing with the SCCA and do very well through PA, MD, NJ, OH, etc...  That said, each year SCCA Holds the Solo Nationals in Lincoln Nebraska, in 2014 I towed my AutoX car the entire way to Nebraska, not because I had a chance, but because I wanted to experience it and have fun.  I finished 33rd out of 37 in my class.  As bad as that was, in 2015 I went back and finished 25th, then in 2016 I finished 14th out of 40.  The winner was Mike Maier, who owns Maier Racing and uses an 800hp Roush NASCAR V8 in his Mustang autox/track car.  I use a stock 4.6L with bolt ons, it dynos about 365hp at the flywheel.  My point is, I could stay right here in south central PA and kick ass all year long and look like a big deal to some local people, but instead I towed out to go against the absolute fastest people in the country, for no other reason than to have fun and experience the big show.  I'm hardly the only grassroots racer in the country that goes to big events knowing I don't have much of a chance of winning; but I always have a good time.  I don't think sprint car racing puts food on the table for the Matus's, I have a hunch they are doing this because they want to.

They are definitely going to have a long year they are still not even close!!!  wait until central pa next week they might want to just show up collect the tow money and keep the car in the trailer along with most of the All Star rookies and not ruin anyone else's night

Is it really necessary to bash him like this? So what if he's slower than most of the other drivers. He's still out there doing something most of us could only dream about doing. I respect him or anyone who has the balls to strap in to sprinter and risk their lives. It's not something that just anyone can do. Even most of the "slow" cars are going faster than any of us fans would be willing to go. I've not seen him race a whole lot but the few times I've seen him, he didn't cause anyone any problems. Lay the hell off of him. He's out there living a dream and there isn't a damn thing wrong with that.

Your first post on this forum, and it's bashing a team that is trying hard and a traveling series that puts on great shows......nice.

My thoughts exactly. It's as if this person created an account for the sole purpose of bashing Brandon, hmmm...

That said Brandon may not be the fastest guy on tour but he's fffaaaaarrrr from a squirrel. He knows how to race and does have an All Star win and several local track wins.

Agreed. I've probably seen him race 10 times or so. He never ran up front any of the times I've seen him but he certainly wasn't a problem. He was perfectly capable of handling the car and you're right, he does have a few wins which is more than most people can say. I don't know why anyone would create a message board profile just to bash someone. That's the epitome of being a lowlife.

Garvin definitely has some talent. This is only his second season in a 410.  Driving LM definitely helped him, but he keeps a solid line, has speed and, again, is not a squirrel out there.  He'll be a solid 410 driver in a few years.  All in all the Matus family (including Garvin) are good people who love the sport.
