As said above, I've heard - Tuesday 7/4 - Grandview, Wednesday 7/5 - Hagerstown, Thursday 7/6 - Port (second show)

Sunday 7/2 - no word yet - I'd love to see Susky (15 minutes from home) get it but I'd bet it's going to be Path Valley.

I agree with fiXXer, Susky probably sealed their fate last year with the Thursday before the speedweek opener scheduled race.

From what I understand central PA 410 premier dates (WoO, Speedweek, etc.) are controlled by the promoting powers of central PA 410 racing and it's always appeared (to me, a fan) that if you don't play nice with the powers, you're gonna be sitting dark when one of those races are scheduled at another track.

I'd say the little fit he threw last season and then subsequently scheduling a show the Thursday night prior to the speedweek opener most likely cooked that goose and I can't say I blame anyone involved with speedweek. I think they probably would've got a show eventually but after that move, they didn't exactly help their cause. I knew that was a stupid move that would have future consequences the minute they announced it. I don't know if it's a contributing factor or not, but it's worth mentioning that Susky has been horrible at running an efficient program and the debacle at the Final Showdown was a total embarrassment. There was a lot that happened beyond their control but there was a lot of dicking around on their end that made a bad thing worse. Despite doing it several times, they still haven't figured out how to run time trials efficiently and considering that Speedweek shows all run time trials, that would be a problem. I love Susky and the money and time they've spent on improving the facility is a big plus so I'm rooting for them to succeed but there's a lot they need to do as far as procedures are concerned to keep the shows running more smoothly. If they ever do get a Speedweek show, I'll be one of the first people through the gate but I wouldn't hold my breath. If they really wanted to have a Speedweek show, they should've thought before they stuck their finger in the eye of the Speedweek committee last season.

They were pissed about not getting the Thursday night Speedweek show because Port Royal refused to give up their 2nd show so they scheduled a show the Thursday night before the Speedweek opened at Williams Grove which was an immature and stupid move. Basically, they would have had the unofficial Speedweek opener but it ended up raining out. I wanted them to get a show as much as anyone but after that, if it were me on the Speedweek committee, I'd tell them to piss off. I lost a lot of respect for Scott Gobrecht after that. He's a businessman so he should totally understand where Port and Lincoln are coming from. You don't willingly give up something that is a sure bet to make you money so why in the hell would either of them give up the 2nd Speedweek date that they earned by sticking with the series while other tracks didn't? They didn't force Susky to leave the series a decade ago but they stepped up and gave the drivers and fans a place to race on Susky's former date so they deserve to keep it until they don't want to anymore.

What kind of "fit" was thrown?

i agree 100% with your comments on running a effeicient show.  Hopefully that wont happen again.

For me...PA speedweek lost some of its allure when Silver Springs closed.  It lost even more when they started rewarding double dates to the weekly 410 tracks. I used to take a week of vacation during this week...not anymore...it just doesn't make sense to take vacation days to watch the same thing I see weekly...

PA speedweek Is turning tnto a extension of our weekly racing with some larger purses...as a fan...it kinda stinks...I want to see them races 7 different tracks in 7 days...PA has a ton of tracks...not just grove, port, Lincoln

You're exactly right about that. They will probably regret that move for a long time to come. Also, I agree with what you said about Speedweek losing its allure. Silver Spring was awesome and it hasn't been the same since it closed. In my opinion, the late 90's were when Pa Speedweek was at its best. I'd love to see each race be contested at different tracks. Path Valley was a huge addition but after Hagerstown, the schedule kinda loses its punch because we're back at the same tracks that we see 90% of our racing throughout the season. In my opinion, of the two Speedweeks, Ohio is far superior to Central PA. Better fields in both quality and quantity plus a much more diverse schedule. One of these years, I'm gonna say the hell with Pa Speedweek and do Ohio instead.

Totally agree with fiXXXer. I'm not saying we don't have a good thing, but to me speedweek started out as variety. That's the point to crowning a champion. It's not the committees fault with Silver Springs closing obviously (LOVED that show), but there are tracks out there that could be added that could keep the diversity. Obviously this opinion is from a fans perspective and not a committee member, owner, or driver's perspective, but bring back the parody.

I went to a few Ohio speedweek shows a few years ago and loved it. Four nights and four different kinds of tracks.

The biggest reason Susky won't get a speedweek show is their inability to run a sprint car show. The staff still sucks. They don't even have close to enough push trucks. Worst time trial shows I've ever seen. Those are the main reasons. The deal with them scheduling on a Thursday last year just added to the fire. The only thing that has gone up there so far is lipstick on a pig. You ain't fooling anyone Kolten.

You won't regret going to Ohio or Indiana sprint weeks.  Do it.

I too am turned off by the management at Susquehanna and their attempt at promotion.  The lipstick on a pig analogy was funny but true.  The scheduling of that Thursday race last July was strike 2 for me, and the length of the one show I did attend with no apparent improvement was strike 3.

As far as Speedweek itself, I would vote for a shorter series.  One race at WG, Lincoln, and Port Royal is enough.  One race at Selinsgrove, Hagerstown, and Grandview.  Those six have been staples in the series.

Ohio is definitely going to happen one of these years. Indiana would be tough for me to do and I do prefer winged sprints (I know some folks are gonna call me crazy lol) over wingless so Ohio is what I'm eyeing up either for 2018 or 2019 and just skipping most if not all of Pa Speedweek. I do like wingless sprints so maybe when I hit the Powerball and retire I'll do that one too. A guy can dream can't he????

Thats  not  what  I want for the mentioned  tracks  to have 2 nights each , is this official ? besides Grandview  and Hagerstown 1 night each ? More tracks the merrier not 2 races each , why doesn't  committee or promoters ask the fans before deciding , wouldn't that be  a good idea for a change . Thisis  not my idea of Pa Speedweek is it your's ?  I noticed over the year's that the Speedweek is not the same anymore for various reasons.

Speedweek dates are a promoters dream as  you have a large group of fans who follow the whole week, car counts are usually good and the purses are average at best so the bottom line is helped tremendously.

Not surprised the major players in the area got 2 dates, especially at the detriment of Susky, which seems to be doing itself no favors recently.

That is a very good and accurate point. And because PA Speedweek is still one of the top attractions in Pennsylvania, who can blame the promoters for wanting and running two shows. The Big-3 all put on great shows and good racing and uniqueness to the three tracks. These three tracks have the resources and manpower to do this.

With that being said, and I'll probably still attend them all, but 7 races at 7 tracks over a 10 day period would be optimal, and give the Big-3 first shot at the off days for make ups.

I still to this day really don't understand why we can't have 1 race at each track.

Sat- Lincoln

Sun- Path Valley

Mon- off day

Tues- Grandview

Wed- Hagerstown

Thurs- Susky (if they get their shit together)

Fri- Williams Grove

Sat- Port Royal

Sun- Selinsgrove

Someone please explain it to me.

That makes  more sense but as been said  on here the promoters are calling the shots not the fans , I think most fans would like to see what you've proposed
