Wood Dominate in NCRA Sprints at 81 Speedway!

Park City, Kansas – September 5, 2015 - Danny Wood started on the pole and led every lap in claiming the National Championship Racing Association of Park City, Kansas presented by Precise Racing Products sprint car feature victory Saturday night at 81 Speedway in Park City.

Wood and Nebraska’s Ryan Roberts started on the front row for the twenty-five lap feature with Wood wasting little time jumping out into the lead. Jeremy Campbell and Don Droud, Jr. ran third and fourth as Wood quickly opened a half stretch advantage on the rest of the field by lap five.

The first caution of the feature fell at the races midway point when Jon Freeman came to a stop at the top of turn four with a broken front end.

Race action resumed with Wood again pulling away from the rest of the field before the red flag fell two laps later when Josh Fairbank went for a hard tumble off turns three and four. Fairbank was knocked unconscious as track personnel took their time extracting Fairbank from the #21 sprinter. Fairbank would soon regain consciousness and at last report was extremely sore and bruised and otherwise, okay.

After the lengthily delay, race action finally resumed and so did Wood’s dominance as he cruised the final fourteen laps and went unchallenged to claim his first series victory of the season.

In victory lane, Wood and car owner Jimmy Eillison made a special announcement. “We have decided we want to donate these winnings ($2000) to the Stasa family recovery fund. We just hope that boy is going to be okay.” The donation is being made to former series regular Patrick Stasa, formally of Kingman, Kansas, who was critically injured two weeks ago in a grinding non-wing sprint car crash at Dodge City Raceway Park.

While Wood dominated the field, all eyes were on the battle for the runner up position as Campbell and Droud both executed several slide jobs for the runner up position with Campbell eventually finishing in the runner up position. Droud, Jeff Stasa, competing in honor of his injured brother in the Stasa Brothers Racing #91, and J.D. Johnson rounded out the top five.

The next race for the NCRA sprint car series will take place this coming Saturday night, September 12, at Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, Nebraska in the last combined event with the Carpet Land Nebraska 360 sprint car series.

It was also announced that the season finale, scheduled for Saturday night, October 10, will pay $3000 to win. More on the season finale will be announced in the coming weeks.
