CALIFORNIA LIGHTNING SPRINT CARS HEAD BACK TO BAKERSFIELD SPEEDWAY!
(Placentia, CA, April 21, 2015) The California Lightning Sprint Car Series heads back to the “The West’s Fastest 1/3 Mile High Banked Clay Oval,” the Bakersfield Speedway this Saturday, April 25th for “ESPN Radio Night at the Races.” Spectator gates will open at 4:00 PM and the first race will be at 6:00.
Saturday’s program, which will also include Modifieds, Sport Mods, IMCA Stock Cars and Mini Stocks, will be the second of four appearances at the Kern County oval for the CLS in 2015. The last time the series raced at Bakersfield on March 21st, point leader Bobby Michnowicz of Lomita passed Sacramento based star Scott Kinney coming off the final corner to score a thrilling win.
At the last CLS race two weeks ago at the Ventura Raceway, Kingsburg veteran Doug Nunes made his season debut with the series a successful one by winning the 20-lap main event on the track that is located adjacent to the Pacific Ocean on the Ventura County Fairgrounds. Heading into this Saturday’s race, Michnowicz, the 2012 and 2014 CLS champion, leads Upland’s Alex Grigoreas by 83-points. Fort Irwin racer Jeff Dyer is third in the points with Placentia veteran Dan Hillberg and James Heling of San Bernardino rounding out the top five.
Tickets for this Saturday’s race are $12 for general admission, Seniors/Military $10, Kids 6-12 $5, 5 and under are free.
After this Saturday, the CLS will get a week off and then head to the all-new Santa Maria Raceway on May 9th and Perris Auto Speedway for the annual Salute to Indy on May 23rd. The next CLS race at Bakersfield will be June 20th.
