Two Big Memorial Events On One Weekend September 5-6 At SCVR & CLS
(22nd Annual Earl Kouba Memorial & 14th Annual Jerry Richert, Sr. Memorial)
By: Greg Parent, UMSS Media Director

Often times in the world of motorsports, the weather has a direct impact on various racing events throughout the course of a season. Such was the case back on August 16 at the St. Croix Valley Raceway when the 22nd Annual Earl Kouba Memorial was rained out. The opening night of the Kouba Memorial on Friday August 15 at the Princeton Speedway played before a large crowd with Brooke Tatnell and Mike Mueller earning victories in the Ethel Kouba Memorial feature races. The makeup date for the second night of this event has set up a spectacular opportunity and tremendous weekend for race fans. On Friday September 5 at the St. Croix Valley Raceway, the 22nd Annual Earl Kouba Memorial will take place with both the UMSS winged sprints and Traditional non-winged sprints in action along with the NVRS Vintage Cars, micros, pure stocks and Future IVs on the program. Then following night just a half hour drive to the south, the 14th Annual Jerry Richert, Sr. Memorial will be held at the Cedar Lake Speedway featuring the IRA 410 Outlaw sprints and the UMSS 360 winged sprints in addition to the NVRS Vintage Cars. Racers and fans will certainly want to be on hand for what is shaping up to be one of the biggest sprint car racing weekends seen in this area in a long time.

Purse information for the UMSS 360 winged sprints shows a very strong payout for the 22nd Annual Earl Kouba Memorial feature on Friday September 5 with the winner taking home $2,400. The 14th Annual Richert Memorial purse for the UMSS sprints is also a very good one, as the top finisher will earn $1,500. On Friday night at SCVR, the UMSS Traditional sprint car feature will pay $500 to win thanks to some additional help from GRP Motorsports. GRP is also putting up a $600 Clean Sweep Bonus in the UMSS 360 sprint division for Friday and Saturday, meaning if a driver should happen to win both UMSS features he or she will take home $4,500 for the weekend. The UMSS feature race purse and other information is listed below.
