Anyone have a list of drivers going? Obviously Outlaws and ASCoC but any non sanctioned drivers going? Is it really the fastest 1/2 mile in the world?!! Anyone want to tell me their experience and things to do as I will be a first time visitor?

It’s a very fast track.  Scary fast when it’s a cool damp night because of the configuration and the quirks of Florida weather, but it is not a full half mile.  I haven’t seen the true measurement anywhere online though.

Sightlines are great and if they get the surface right the racing is usually very entertaining.  Car count is usually only in the low to mid 30’s for sprints because the conditions are hard on engines.  They get a ton of UMP mods though.

Volusia is awesome, track is ridiculously fast. I think all tickets come with a pit pass, they used to anyway. Always good to see the cars up close.

Went to Volusia for the first time ever last year. It was a blast. Track is fast but not a half mile. Measures closer to 4/10th but the track shape and banking when juiced up is still crazy fast. Seating is so close to the front stretch walk it enhances the feeling of the speed. Calling it the worlds fastest half mile is kind of gimmicky though.

And hopefully noone winds up with a car in their lap.

They spent a ton of money on fencing after that one year where cars were leaving the track left and right and hurt some people.

A 40 degree night at Volusia is the coldest 40 degrees I’ve ever felt in my life.  I’ve been warmer on 20 degree nights at home.

Of all my race trips, going to Volusia is my favorite.  Is it the fastest half mile in the world?  Who knows.  I promise you this, it is bad fast.  Dress warm.  if you have time drive the coastal highway down to key west, coolest road trip ever,  enjoy

I stayed in Daytona Beach. Not to far away. Spent the day at the beach and racetrack at night. It was an awesome vacation. New seating there is pretty nice. Pretty decent facility down there all around and they keep upgrading it. I didn't do any pit pass or stick around to go through the pits with young kids and due to the fact that I'll see all of the drivers somewhere else at some point in the season. During the day Daytona is full of racing museums. We also visited the Ponce De Leon Lighthouse near Daytona which was also cool. Waffle House was close to our beach hotel too so it was almost like Chili Bowl memories just with the family and not my buddies. Smile whatever you choose just make the most of it!

I've been to the Lighthouse. It is pretty cool imo. I believe the original Daytona track on the beach and roadway is still marked out for visitors. Was a few years ago when we went. Seemed kind of cool to walk the beach were the cars raced.

Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

Bring Eye Protection Goggles Glasses as it can get Dusty during tbe feature, the only negative I can think of is they don't have a good washroom facility in the pit area I believe they only have porta Pottis in the Volusia pit area , Somebody correct me if I'm wrong. ?

A) Make a side trip to Don Garlits Museum in Ocala.... amazing!!!!

B) DO NOT try the deep fried Oreos.... disgusting. I've had deep fried cheesecake in Louisiana & loved it... but Cajuns cook a lot better than Floridians!

Anyone have any word on any outsiders that will make their way to Volusia? Larson, Abreu, Brown? Any word on pre registrations anywhere? Getting excited to get out of the snow in PA!

I'm not saying spend the whole night in the infield... but if you go to Volusia, please watch something from the infield atleast once.  Its so amazing how close you can get to the cars and how fast they are going while doing the most insane things imaginable.  Watch Heat 1 inside Turn 1.  Then watch Heat 2 in Turn 3.  Then go back in the stands and tell everyone how insane it is.

Before the grove put the fence up in the infield you could stand as close as you wanted. You could also stand on the bridge that goes over the back straight.  Those where fun times.
