Interesting to see what the Jackson Nats and this Huset's 50 will pay individually, but this whole week will be over $500k in total purse money according to the press release.

The stars of the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series will compete for a $100,000 bonus between two events in June 2021.

Huset’s Speedway, in Brandon, SD, returns to the Series’ schedule June 21-June 22 next year for the Huset’s 50. Then, the Series on June 24-26 returns to the Jackson Motorplex, in Jackson, MN, for the 43rd Annual Jackson Nationals.

The five events are a part of “The Showdown” week for the two tracks, which will pay a $100,000 bonus to a driver if they can win the finale of both World of Outlaws events.

Pretty cool news. Hoping we see an uptick in the health of sprint racing in the Midwest. New teams, old teams coming back, or more travelers coming to the area throughout the season. All seem more and more possible. Excited for next year.

I hope all the sanctioning bodies work together on this one, it would be good to get All Star support for this week. The only thing keeping the Jackson Nats from being a true crown jewel is car count. 40-45 cars is low for the purse they pay. I hope this event draws 55-65 cars next year.

Interesting that you mention the border.  I heard a story on the radio this morning about the Toronto basketball team looking for a temporary arena in the US to use for the upcoming season as Toronto will not let them play there.  I didn't hear if it was due to travel restrictions or if they won't allow the opening of the arena.

I'm going with "the border will be open by June" and you will be able to camp.

The All Stars participating in this event would probably be the only way they could get 65.  Aside from Knoxville, Jackson, Husets and River Cities every track in the five state area runs some combination of Stock Cars and Modifieds.  We do have a limited Traditional Sprint class that is one of the fastest growing series around but they run a limited motor and wouldn't run with the Outlaws other than as a support class.  Not sure but IRA might leave those dates open.  Not many of them come this far west so we are still only talking a handful of cars.

One track owner told me years ago that raising the purse has a limit as to how many additional cars it will draw.  There is a point where it maxes out and doesn't result in more cars and fans as there are only so many teams willing to travel.  There are teams in this part of the country that sit out the night when the Outlaws come because they know they aren't competitive.

I have learned not to question what happens down at Jackson.  Lessons from the past do not apply, they are some real go getters and when they set out to do something they make it happen.  Nothing down there surprises me.  That is some top notch ownership and management.
