Well I only went to one live race this summer, but saw lots on PPV

Considering paucity of races, good car counts, & the fact that many of the California guys were on the road, there was lots of good racing

Lets post some videos of the best races. I lose track of them all, but this one stands out: Allstars, Red Dirt Speedway, 6/5/20

That was a good one.

This was one of the best races I've ever watched from outside the stands.  This year's Iron Man 55

Lernerville Silver Cup and River Cities WoO races were incredible. There was an incredible race between Reutzel and Austin McCarl to start the All Star regular season as well.

Those All Star races through Oklahoma kicked off the viewing in spectacular fashion.  Personally if I were to pick out a high point of the season it would be all of it.  A lot is said about the benefits of attending races live but there were positive points about the TV experience.  I have said before that I don't have a group of fellow fans that I travel with and where I live we have a lot of six and seven class programs where we sit all night to watch a dozen and a half Sprints run for fifteen minutes out of an hours long show.

PPV openend my eyes to the racing in other parts of the country and how much stronger the fields are than what I'm used to.  Up here some of the Outlaw shows struggle to fill a 24 car field but based on what I saw that isn't an issue in Ohio and Pennsylvania.  The question becomes if I stay home and avoid those marathon sessions and watch One class Sprint shows with huge fields am I not a real racing fan or simply not a fan of sitting through seven class marathons?  Those guys and gals running all those entry classes love racing and the racing is competitive, I get that, but it's just not my thing going out of my way to watch that when I'm a Sprint fan.  Of course there have been many good nights at the races including the six seven class marathons so I think age comes into play and the virus thing this year but I don't care for the night driving as much.  It's an age thing as well.

Based on that scenario and having so many races between Floracing and Dirtvision for most of the summer that I didn't have time to watch it all and there is still a lot of racing on Flo.  Traveling is out of the question me being a loner who's wife doesn't understand going to any race much less traveling to do it.  The amount of racing I can follow is insane and in my age and circumstance if I didn't have the streaming dirt racing would have eventually been out of sight and out of mind.  I think the streaming helps keep a lot of people connected and with my it represents the future of racing unless I miraculously wake up tomorrow with a bunch of race chasing buddies willing to share the driving and expense.  That's not likely to happen so I say all the racing on PPV is the best.

Agree with Stan, there were a few All Stars around late May/early June that were outstanding:

Red Dirt: http://www.allstarsprint.com/videos/getVideo.aspx?i=583882

Park Jefferson: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=22tsUbMzscU&feature=emb_title

The River Cities WoO finish with Larson ripping through the infield: https://www.dirtvision.com/broadcasts.php?action=show&id=3998

This season has been fantastic racing, given all the external factors we've all dealt with. So grateful for so much to be available on high quality streaming. Everyone stepped their game up this year.

I would love to travel around the country to race tracks but I'm in a mixed marriage so to speak. I like racing and my wife doesn't and that dynamic creates the situation where me chasing races would result in me taking up more than my fair share of our vacation budget.   That and throw in a virus and local tracks running a bunch of classes and watching on tv becomes my best option.  I don't want to be too hard on our local racing, that isn't my intent.  I helped out tracks and series in the past with photos and that sort of thing but now as I push 70 it has become a time thing as well.  I just can't justify chasing these races by myself.  Everything from my budget to vehicles to doing all that driving alone doesn't appeal to me.  For example, I'm about I'd say four hours from Husets.  I could have drove eight hours round trip by myself, paid for gas and a room and gone there alone or watch it at home from a recliner on a large screen tv.  Then there's that damn camera gear comes into play whenever I go to a race.  Knowing me I'd give in to that voice in my head telling me that I need a few hundred more shots for my personal collection.  I have a hard time sitting in the stands so I know that if I go to a race I'm probably going to give into that urge because I hate sitting in bleachers with my cobbled together neck.  So now not only have I drove a few hundred miles and paid for a room but I would spend the whole night on my feet chasing that next awesome shot and pay to do it.    Being at or near races tracks is addictive so I think PPV I a good thing for me right now.  I used to be obsessed with racing and couldn't get enough so I should probably stick with watching it on TV.

My vote is for Red Dirt as well. No one raced Larson like Reutzel did in that race all season. Then throw in Eliason and double dick douche bag in the mix and that was a badass race !!

Kevin Gobrecht Memorial during Pa. Speedweek 06/27/20. Great battle thru traffic with Larson, Dietrich, and Dewease with Freddie close behind.

World of Outlaws outclasses the ASCoC in terms of strength of field usually, but the ASCoC did have some exciting features this  year. The show Austin McCarl won months ago comes straight to mind.

I've been attending the Knoxville Nationals for 19 years now and the next time work does not interfere, I am going to do the Ironman followed by Knoxville.  Hoping in the next 2 or 3 years!

PS on my previous comments.  If I ever am able to take a solo car trip and have pay all the expense before I keel over it will be for Indiana Midget week.  The Sprints are the support classes, the tracks are awesome and I have a former cat crew shipmate with a nice spread outside of Fort Wayne I would like to reconnect with.

I have said a lot about why I don't chase races but there are some bucket list items that got derailed by 2020.  I would do a solo trip for an event like that one or another Knoxville Nationals or another of the big Jackson or Husets races.  Having started watching races in the 60's I do admit to a weakness for non-wing Sprints and Midgets.  They are something different and would justify the driving and expenses.  I would have to work some antique stores and flea markets in and my wife would come along and hang in the motel while I was at the track.  That would lure me out from in front of the TV.

I've been to Indiana Midget Week driving solo, but not the whole thing, usually races on the East side of the state. Or west side if I was coming from Colorado. Worth it!

One of these days I'm gonna do the whole thing.....

Same with ISW. Seen a few races, never the whole enchilada

I'm a year older than you, but haven't been race chasing nearly as long, not burnt out yet

I'm retired, but whats holding me up from that adventure is taking care of 98 yr. old Mom

I was taking off long weekends until 2 years ago. Last summer was gone for 2 weeks (dancing, watching sprint car races & whitewater rafting!) & Mom fell & broke her elbow, ended up in the hospital. Now I'm afraid to leave her overnite

One of these days...
