I have been a longtime sprint car fan and has been many years since I have posted on here.  I would like to give an opinion on what is going on from a huge sprint fan and someone who works in healthcare.

I am a senior Biomed who works at a local hospital here in Williamsburg, VA.  (Brent Marks was a Biomed in a previous life so I am a big fan of his). The situation has definitely got my attention.  My specialty is Respiratory Therapy equipment.  (Ventilators). Right now I am up on Monday morning going to the hospital at 400 am.  This is a time where I have no definite hours and am working as much as I can.  Our whole 3rd floor is dedicated to Covid patients.  Most on vents.  What if something happens to a vent in a room? I look at it, try to fix it.  That is just what we do.  No complaints here.  This is what everyone in healthcare signed up to do.  The heroes?  Nurses, Resp Therapists, environmental services people, and Doctors.  We are all in this together.  Cant wait for this thing to go away.  Get back to normal.  Thats where the Nationals come in.

I am thinking the Nationals will be the the biggest ever.  Nobody is racing, using equipment and spending money.  By August I think the virus should be almost gone, hopefully.  People ready to get out. Racers ready to go.  I just booked my flight to DesMoines for $262.00.  Booked my hotel for the week.  I dont think it is wishful thinking.  Knoxville on May 2nd may be.

I would like to hear from everyone out there who is in healthcare.  What is your stress level? I think I know the answer to that one.  Hours working?  Favorite driver?  Please everyone stay safe.  Dont be part of the problem.  I will see you at the track.

Thank you for what you do.

What kind of success is your hospital having treating your patients on the third floor?

I hope that you are eating some good Knoxville dirt come August. I hope we all are!

First & Foremost, Thank you to all the health care professionals out there putting their own lives at jeapordy working the front lines. You are the heroes. My self like Millions of other Americans that have been deemed "Essential",  it is still real scary being out there in the public, some of you working elbow to elbow and sharing the same equipment to perforn your jobs. Still nothing like the bravery and committment that the Health Care workers are giving to save Millions of lives. I too am all in for the 2020 Knoxville Nationals, Tickets and Camping bought and paid for. All we can do is hope and pray we are past this by August.... However if we are still in the same predicament in August as we are at the present time!! You can't imagine the the toll it will have taken on human life and the economy. Or should I say "What economy"!!!

I will say if the show does go on without worries of this Virus, We will rejoice and appreciate every single minute of it.

God bless you Sir !   You are most appreciated for everything you're doing.    You are also appreciated for putting a post on this forum that's actually positive and encouraging.

Actually 3rd floor this morning was a little bit better than last week.  This county in VA has the most cases in the state because of the elederly/retired population and they are at a higher risk.

Just wanted everyone out there to try and keep a positive attitude and try not and play the blame game.  All of us are in this together.  Help everbody that you can.

The Nationals are kind of like a carrott in front of me.  If we can just work hard for a few more months we can make it there and look back at this thing and count our blessings.  Maybe all of us will have a better attitude about our life and understand what our priorities are. Any positive comments from anyone are welcome.  Thanks.

August seems to be a good bet, but it'll depend on the governors. If the Iowa governor keeps a ban on large gatherings, it's toast. But I am hopeful that the news in Europe and the US continues to improve (NYC hospitalizations/deaths have plateaued) and by the late summer we'll be back.

I am cautiously optimistic about the Nationals going off as scheduled.  I don't know how I feel about the car counts.  I know there are plenty of car owners with deep pockets and this won't phase them.  What we don't know about is how long this economic catastrophy will last, and how deep it will hit.  We don't know how this will affect those that don't have the bottomless pockets.  So, we can speculate that a lot of drivers will not have used their budgets yet, but many of them may be forced to scrap their budgets and maybe their entire season/programs.  We just don't know yet.

It wouldn't surprise me to see 120 cars.  It wouldn't surprise me to see 60 cars and have them run a 3-night format like the Late Model Nationals either.  It wouldn't surpise me to see stands packed---assuming virus is all but gone.  It wouldn't surprise me to see the stands 1/2 empty----should it still be spreading at low-moderate levels.

So many unknowns, but as you said, something to look forward to.
