SEXTON’S 8TH AND 13TH AT ALBRIGHT MEMORIAL – PERRIS THIS SATURDAY!

(Lakeside, CA, August 16, 2018) Sexton/Gatlin Racing journeyed to Merced Speedway last Saturday night to take on the BCRA in the “5th Annual Wayne Albright Memorial.”  Patriarch Brent Sexton finished eighth in the 25-lap main event and his youngest son Grant finished 13th.  This Saturday night, they will be back in action at the “California Racer’s Hall of Fame Night” at Perris Auto Speedway.

After Brent finished fifth in his heat and Grant finished sixth in his, Brent jumped into the early lead in the 25-lap main event.  The 46-year-old two-time CLS champion from Spring Valley opened a big lead over the rest of the field on the very dry surface.  Brent had it all his way until lap eight when the tricky track bit him and he spun to a stop in turn one.

Restarting at the back after the spin, Brent quickly started slicing his way through the field and was up to eighth when he ran out of time as the checkered flag flew before he could get any farther.

Coming into this week’s race on the biggest track the CLS competes on, Brent has clawed his way back up to fourth in the championship standings and he is a mere three points out of third and is only 33-points out of second.

Grant and older brother Dalton are still ranked first and second in the “Rookie of the Year” standings.  Grant, who sits overall in tenth spot in the standings, is 113-points ahead of Dalton, who is ranked 13th overall.

Dalton, who missed last week’s race due to high school football, will be back in action along with his father and younger brother this Saturday when the CLS races at The PAS for the second and final time in 2018.   The last time the CLS was at the famous Riverside County half-mile oval on Memorial Day weekend, Brent placed 11th in the main with Dalton 12th and Grant 16th.  All three hope to improve on those performances this Saturday night.

For Fans wishing to attend this Saturday's race, spectator gates open at 5 PM in the first race will be at 7. Joining the CLS will be the USAC/CRA Sprint Cars and The PAS Senior & Young Gun Sprints.  In addition to the racing action, several racing legends from the past will be signing autographs in the track sports bar and more than a dozen vintage racecars will be on display as well.

Perris Auto Speedway is located at 18700 Lake Perris Drive in the City of Perris (92571).  The track phone number is (951) 940-0134 and the website is http://perrisautospeedway.com/.
