Having never been to Attica, this might appear to be a dumb question. From all the photos I have ever seen of the place, it looks like there is another track ( possabily a one time horse track? ) sperating the track and grandstands. As a fan do you feel you are too far from the action or don't you notice?

Yes there is a horse track around the dirt track. However that is all I can tell you. I have been there at least a 100 times and never watch a single lap from the grandstands.

I've been going to Attica since it opened in 1988. I like the granstands sitting back from the track because it makes it easy to see from anywhere in the stands. You can sit in the front row and still see the whole track very well. I actaully stood along the fence seperating the gandstands from the horsetrack the night Mark Keegan famoulsy beat Steve Kinser and saw the whole thing with no problem.

Another interesting note...they used to race cars on what is now the horse track back in the 50s and 60s.

It is a horse track and oddly enough it actually allows you to see more of the racing because of the peripheral vision. Was apprehensive when I first went but it actually works out well

They actually still do race those weird little "chariot" races on the horsetrack for the attica fair too. It's where I grew up watching and after being at other tracks I can agree it does help see the track a bit easier without sitting very far up. However, first time I went to a different track at Fremont, I was stunned how close you sat to the track. It's really cool either way. Plus it's cool to see the winners park it on the horse track!

Epic night. One of the few races I will never forget. I have never seen a driver get boo'd so much, and he just took it all in stride. Amazing race.
But Attica is one of my top five favorite tracks also. I wish I lived closer. I actually like the small seperation between the grandstands and the track. I have seen races from everywhere at that place. grandstands, the fence down front, from the pits, on top of a hauler, even from in a car along the back stratch pit road. All great seats.

I like everything about Attica except that horse track between me and the race track. Hell, i even like the trains. Yes, I do feel too far from the track.

Even with the horse track you sit closer than you do in the turns at Eldora for example. I like sitting in turn 1 where there isn't a catch fence.

was there one time...good sight lines...experience suffers a bit due to the distance from the cars, but it was a good race...

The trains are a plus. Not quite like Santa Fe Speedway outside of Chicago used to be but still a nice added experience during down time in racing.
