To all of your delight! Tyler confirmed he will be racing this weekend at the Kings Royal. Good Luck to him, hopefully he has a better showing than speedweeks. I still remember Sammy coming out of 3 blowing a tire at the Royal to give Tyler the win. Didn't think I'd ever see him back after all the $#!t he got himself into.

I'm going to guess this thread has nothing but sensible, well thought out and objective posts...that's sarcasm if I didn't lay it on thick enough.

I think the 35 team is using HP Engines.  Not sure it has enough HP (no pun intended) to run the cushion hammer down.  Then again Greg Wilson won at Eldora running the Greg Wilson line a year or two ago.  And Doug Esh runs HP Engines and gets around Port Royal all right.  But if the track prep is on at the KR it'll be a high intense, high speed affair.

If he doesn't do well it won't be because he uses HP engines. They have proven both strong and reliable they just aren't as well known as some. Now whether or not the 35 teams engines are fresh or not that is another topic.

Unfortunately that holds true for a lot of the O-dry-O tracks these days.

You're right and my comments weren't meant as disparaging or meant to insinuate that will be the reason for the success or failure or mediocrity (whichever it is) of the 35.  It does seem that Kistlers, Riders, Don Otts, Shaver, Garretts do well on bigger tracks.  When discussing engines with a driver he feels his Kistler runs much better at big, fast 1/2 miles than his HP.  But again, it'll be about the driver, how the track sets up, etc.

I saw more than a dozen Kings Royals and I still think he has the greatest pass I have ever seen.  In turns 3 and 4 he slide Stevie Smith and went around the top on someobdy else, got them both before the straightaway on the front stretch, it was an impossible move made possible by sheer talent or a miracle or both.....

That's one of those Eldora memories that will never be erased!  It was the night before the Royal in one of the heats.  Stevie was racing with someone else hard going into turn 3... side by side... and TW fired it in there and slid them both!  It was one of the most amazing things I've ever seen there, or anywhere.  I remember talking to Coach Bob the next day, playing bags or something.  He and a couple others went to Gas City for Indiana Sprint Week the night before.  He said it was a good show at Gas City, but was bummed that he wasn't there to witness that move.  Everybody was talking about it the entire next day... for damn good reason!

Side note... for those that were lucky enough to be at the Million there, TW in qualifying was worth the price of admission for the entire weekend!

Good. Let the boy race.

I agree, let the boy race, they need cars in the C-main as field fillers.

Pave the place and only allow GM crate engines in all classes and get it over withSmile

Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?
