to all the race fans out there keep a spot open at night for the guy that got the national sprint car hall of fame built. He's very sick with just days to live looks like maybe 5. All the people around the dirt tracks of the world know tom he's done much for the racers and gave the fans a place to love there drivers now it's our turn to do the right thing for tom.say a little something at night or send a card to the hall for his family really is a great fan of the sport we care about.

Hoping he pulls through this or they Dr's figure out exactly what is going on and can treat him to get him on the road to recovery.

Great Guy with a big heart.

My fondest memory is riding with Tom to the King's Royal (1990 maybe) as a teenager.  He took a kid he hardly knew with him to Ohio to meet up with his family there.  I'll never forget that kindness that Tom showed me even though I was a moody teenager that probably didn't appreciate it as much as I should at the time.

For those that don't support the Hall of Fame monetarily, I urge you to make a donation (no matter how small) or to become a Supporting Member.  Tom was instrumental in making the Hall of Fame a reality and during his tenure as Executive Director made sure the Hall of Fame ran in the "black" and paid off the bank note 10 YEARS ahead of schedule on the main building.

The displays in the Hall of Fame have been due to Tom's hard work and dedication.  Without Tom there would have been no Salute toTony Stewart, Salute to Mario Andretti, Salute to Steve Kinser, Salute to Doug Wolfgang, Salute to Jeff Gordon, the 50th Nationals display, and the upcoming Salute to Sammy Swindell beginning in June or multiple other displays in the museum.

Tom is the best.  I wish him well and a succesful recovery.   If he has not been inducted into the Hall of Fame that is a huge oversight.  I hope he is already in there.   He is much more responsible for the HoF and the rise of sprint car racing than many promoters who are in the HoF.  He is one of the best representives of sprint car racing ever... not to mention just a great and friendly man with all of us.   God Speed to a speedy recovery.

Update on Tom Schmeh:

Tom has made an unexpected, remarkable improvement while at hospice. Because of this, Tom decided to return to Mercy Hospital to resume treatments. He is not out of the woods yet, but the doctors and nurses are giving us encouraging signs.  He is getting excellent care by all the compassionate and professional staff.

Tom is very tired and is resting now.  He has requested that he not have visitors at this time, so that he can continue to rest and gain strength.  His family sincerely thanks everyone for their continued thoughts and prayers.  They are making a big difference!

Thanks for the great update, Todd.  We can all still hope and pray for him.

The doctors gave up on my brother - pulled the tubes and sent him to hospice to die.   That was about a year ago and he is still with us - improving slowly - but walking, etc. and doing pretty good.   There's still hope for Tom and all others.  Just think - also the Bull Dog is walking - not the greatest in the world but what great strides compared to where he was.

Keep up the good work, Tom (and family).  You know there are many folks pulling for you.
