Missed the opener at Lincoln for East Bay (maybe more PA. TRACKS SHOULD CONSIDER 360S ) noticed a few names missing at Lincoln any word on the plans of Tim Wagaman,J.J. Grasso or Adam Wilt?

Hodnett and Wolf should be back next week lets hope for better weather.

Wagaman, Grasso usually come out when the track switches to night racing. I was told at the track saturday Adam Wilt isnt running this year at all. Hodnett, Wolfe, and Mark Smith should all be there this week. Look for Bill Balog to be there on March 11th. If you really want to get technical on whos not there and say its a bad sign lets just add the cars that will run there that werent there. Quackenbush, AJ Flick should also be there this week weather permitting

35 Steve Owings, 91 David Quackenbush, 74 Dwayne Gutshall, 75 Nicole Bower, 39 Anthony Marci, 3b Randy Baughman, 45 Kevin Nagy, 4 John Rudisill, 15m Bobby Mazingo, 83 Cody Fairchok, 22t Matt Bolland, 10 Zach Eucalano. All of those cars are usually there on a regular saturday night.

Mark Smith said on winged Nation his next race would be either 360 at Devils Bowl or Grove Opener.

Saw Quackenbusch is running 360 and his dad is sponsor of URC.

Thats to bad about Wilt he joins Leooo,Hogue and Darrah as young talents that have gone away.

Weekly count at Port and Lincoln should be ok but I dont know about the Grove.

Quackenbush is still running weekly at Lincoln. He will only be doing select URC shows.

Not sure where Port is gonna get any more than 20 410's from for a weekly show? I think that's why they are going all in with the LM's this year. PA Speedweek is going to be a joke except for the regular 410 tracks. No 17w, Marks WOO, R. Smith ASCoC., no Stevie, no Shaffer(13). That's 5 cars that ran SW last year and car counts weren't very good then. That sucks about Hogue, talented young driver and good car.

Port is definitely going all in with the late models. I was shocked last year when I went on their website and noticed that the press release about the guy who won the late model series they have with Selinsgrove was the headline above Lance Dewease winning the Tuscarora 50 even though the late model deal concluded on Friday before the 50 was ran. I've noticed many other press releases since where the late models were mentioned first as well. Whether that's a good move or not remains to be seen but I know they've not faired well in the past for the stand alone late model shows they've tried as far as the crowd is concerned so if they were to scrap the 410's and run late models as the weekly headliner, I don't think they'd enjoy the success that they're enjoying now. There are some late model fans there but the sprint cars are the bread and butter and they have been for decades. You're right though. As it looks now, their sprint field this year is going to be pretty sparse for regular shows. Lincoln will have better counts and in my opinion, better quality than Port so that's where I'm going to be for the majority of my Saturday nights.

The weekly racing strength in PA has always been (if I'm correct) built around sprint car racing. The now and again big Late Model shows have probably faired well, too (not living there I am assuming this). The part of the Midwest I live in was sprint car strong weekly for decades. Now not as much. The smaller tracks ran the late models and such. Then they began to filter in to the weekly shows because of low sprint car counts. Still, as the sprint car counts diminished especially in the 410 's things nearly dried up except for Knoxville and Husets (and Huset's had sufferred). The late models around here have never filled the void and been able to carry a weekly show. They are trying to no avail here at Clay County. Weekly IMCA shows don't put 300-400 people in the stands as near as I can tell visually with a drive by.  I'm a sprint car fan and this area is full of sprint car fans and late model racing can't change that. There may be enough population in PA to carry a late model program as an eventual replacement to headlining sprint cars, I don't know. One thing is for sure. I am worried about the real strength of sprint car racing on a weekly basis from coast to coast. I hope to heck our sport doesn't become just a touring event making a showing a couple times a year in too many more places. Right now more than any other time in my opinion, it is more important than ever to bring in new fans to sprint car racing. And that's going to be hard to do if the sport remains shrinking. Of course, the touring groups will far out last the weekly tracks. That worries me, too.

I think both Sat. tracks will be in the 20s for regular shows Lehman was at Lincoln Sat he will be a Port car word is Stutts will be mostly 410 this year they will have about 10 regulars plus some most night cars.

I agree the non sanctioned special shows and the regular shows at the Grove look to be in the most trouble.

I saw in Area Auto that Kyle Reinheart was going to run the 91 at Susquehanna but no mention of Lincon for the 91s.

the fact is the LM's draw a bigger crowd that 410's

at lernerville the woo races have a nice crowd but the woo LMs races are packed

at the world finals if the LM's run before the sprints watch the crowd leave when they are done

it was very suprising to me when that happened

Blazer you are correct Sprint cars have been the featured division in Pa. since they arrived in the 60s at most tracks you will see the crowd start to leave after the sprint feature, and the crowds are never as good for even special Late Model races.

ROBM you must not be from Pa. that may happen at Charolett but only the Truck race crowd comes close to tht Kings Royal at Eldora not sure about Lernerville.

Only Hagerstown and Grandview have a chance at outdrawing Sprint with another Division.

No need to worry about Port scrapping the sprint cars. LOL.

I'm not worried about it at all because I don't think they will but if they do, there's always Lincoln.

That may be the case elsewhere but in Central PA, sprint cars are king.

I don't think late models would do too well in Central PA as a headliner. Now the western part of the state is different but in the Port/Lincoln/Grove area, sprint cars are the draw and there's no question about it. Port would probably do a little better than the other 2 because of being a little farther west but I guarantee they wouldn't get near the crowds they're getting now

Our crowds when the WoO aren't here are typically good. Regular shows at all 3 tracks are well attended and at times, for opening days, holiday weekends and such, we see huge crowds. We have more sprint car races (some would argue we have too many races & I agree as far as the teams are concerned) within a 2 hour radius than anywhere in the country every season and the fans always turn out. Last year, Port Royal enjoyed one of its largest crowds on opening day. Speedweek shows are almost always packed. Some of the special unsanctioned shows see large crowds at times too. Sometimes the weather affects things obviously but most shows do pretty good. The fans here are extremely passionate (sometimes in my opinion too much so) about sprint car racing. I would imagine the WoO late model shows would do OK but not if it only depended on the sprint car crowd. There's no ifs, ands or buts, Central PA is sprint car country. All you gotta do is attend some races here and you'll see what I mean. Port Royal probably has the most late model people but even on a regular Saturday night, take a walk around and count racing shirts and you'll probably see that about 80% of them are sprint car shirts. Obviously there are people who like both but sprint cars are king.

On April 23rd you people will see how well the late models draw a crowd "in sprint car country" when the Lucas Oil late models show up to Port Royal and how far away fans come to see them.

There have been national touring Late Model shows in Sprint Car Country before such as WoO at Selinsgrove.  The crowds were ok, but not great.   Selinsgrove is probably a good test case too, because they aren't a weekly 410 track.  Yet, I've seen bigger crowds there when just the local 410's came to town with only about 20 cars, than I saw when I went to the Late Model only show.

I don't follow late models at all but from what little I know, you're correct. I think Port will do pretty good on the Lucas Oil deal and the WoO LMS. They'll get a lot of fans traveling in from outside of Central PA but if they had to rely on their "regulars", they'd lose their asses for sure.
