I see the spots have power and the grounds have drinking water. Is this a water hookup? If not , where do you fill your water tank?

There is a water hydrant in about the middle of the cul-de-sac where the camground is located. Either have plenty of hose to hook up to it to fill your fresh water tank, or do as we did. We used our tank water sparingly. Our hot water for doing any pots and pans or real kitchen items (used mostly disposable) and toilet only at night and early morning.  A well kept modern toilet and shower facility is only a five minute walk away. We used gallon water jugs for our cooking and drinking water and refilled them at the hydrant. So no, there are no direct water hook ups at each camping spot. If by chance you don't have enough garden hose, no problem. The site is full of race fans and borrowing more hose to reach your site is not a problem if you need to refill. The only dump station is on the way out. You'll spot it as you make the drive in to get to the campground.

Also, you did see that there is a window for making reservations, right?  They go in a hurry.

Yes I did, and many thanks for the info. We have always stayed in town and was looking for other options.

We made a site seing trip up tp Howell but never camped there. Each cul-de-sac at Howell has a "water fountain" indicated with a black dot on the map.....can't tell you if those are hydrants or not. The key at Howell is to select a spot near a shower facility. They are a bit spread out. We spent 20 years at Elk Rock State Park. On Hwy 14 about five to seven miles or so north of the track. Not as large as Howell and pretty quiet.. and closer to Knoxville. Google Elk Rock State Park......Camground Details and look at the:  standard electric sites.   There are actual photos of each site. The front two have no shade, but the rest do. Just an alternative I'm familiar with if you can't get in to Howell.
