PERRIS SENIOR SPRINT CAR TITLE TO BE DECIDED SATURDAY!

(Perris, CA, October 13, 2016) Along with the Amsoil USAC/CRA Sprint Cars, The PAS Young Gun and Senior Sprint Cars will also be racing this Saturday night, October 15th, at Perris Auto Speedway.  It will be the final 2016 appearance for the Seniors and Young Guns.  Part of the intrigue of the show will be the title fight for the Senior title where Eddie Tafoya and Richard McCormick are only separated by 1-point.

The Senior Sprint Series, now in its sixth season at The PAS, is for drivers age 45 and older.  Tafoya, a former draft choice of the Pittsburgh Pirates who live in Chino Hills, and McCormick, a Hollywood stunt man who lives in Agua Dulce, are both seeking their first championship in the class.  Tafoya has the 1-point lead.  The scenario is the same for both heading into Saturday.  With the chase so close, whichever one finishes in front of the other wins the championship.

Tafoya had the advantage early on and built up a lead in the championship standings with a win and two second place finishes in the first three races of the season.  However, McCormick has been sizzling in the last four races winning the last three in a row and having a second place finish leading into them.  It will all come down to the final 20-lap main of the year on Saturday.

While Tafoya and McCormick will decide the championship in the Seniors on Saturday, 15-year-old Corona racer Courtney Crone already has the Young Gun title sewed up.  She leads 20-year-old Acton college student Hannah Mayhew by 86-points.  With only 60-points available to the winner on Saturday, Crone would not even have to show up and the crown would still be hers.  She has dominated the series in 2016 with five main event wins in the first seven races.

Spectator gates will open at 5:00 PM and the first race will be at 7:00 on Saturday.

Saturday’s show will consist of qualifying, heat races, B main (if needed) and a 30-lap A Main for the USAC/CRA Series.  The Senior Sprints will contest heat races and main events.

Adult tickets are $25.00.  Seniors 65 and older get in for $20.00.  Active military members with proper id, teens 13-18 with their school id and kids 6-12 get in for just $5.00.  Children 5 and under are admitted free.  The event will not sell out and there will be plenty of tickets available for everyone at the ticket window on Saturday.  Parking on the fairgrounds is $8.00.

For patrons who wish to purchase tickets in advance, they can do so 24-hours a day by clicking on the following link  October 15th tickets or by calling 1-800-595-4849.
