A glorious warm summer evening saw Novato Chevrolet and Petaluma Speedway board host the Flowmaster Civil War Sprint Car Series Saturday Night along with the General Hydroponic Dwarfs and Santa Rosa Auto Body 600’s. 27 Civil War sprints signed into the pits with a tight points battle between Andy Forsberg and Mason Moore. Sean Becker would take quick time with a time of 12.86. A 3 heat race format saw quick time Becker, young gun Michael Kofoid, and Petaluma regular Zack Lynskey pick heat race victories. Becker and Lynskey would lead the 6 car dash to green with Lynskey picking up the dash victory and would have 5 time Civil War Series winner at Petaluma Becker start aside him. The 30 lap A Main would be a one for the ages. Lynskey led the field to green with 2 of the best in the business, Becker and Forsberg right behind him battling for the lead. The top 3 would stick with each other the whole race. Becker would make a lap 16 pass and go onto win his 6th Civil War Race at Petaluma with Lynskey in 2nd and Forsberg in 3rd. The feature went non-stop, green to checkers in 7:04. Becker’s win tied him with Forsberg for the most Civil War victories at Petaluma.

The General Hydroponic Dwarf cars also made the trip to Petaluma Speedway with 23 cars making the call. Matt Sargent, Jack Haverty, and Danny Wagner picked up the 3 heat races that night. Shawn Jones led the field to green but was able to hold off the field a couple times after some early yellows. Jones and Dave Mosier would battle for the lead early on with Sargent following pursuit. Sargent made the pass for second on Mosier on lap 7 and would go after the lead. On a restart on lap 10, Sargent would make the pass too early and would be penalized 2 positions for the jump, handing the lead back to Jones. Jones would hold off the field and go on to win the main event with Sargent coming back to finish 2nd and Chad Matthias finishing 3rd.

The Santa Rosa Auto Body 600’s made their return to the Petaluma 3/8th’s Saturday Night with 18 cars. Jared Morrison, David Engstrom, and Koen Shaw picked up the heat race victories and would start towards the front of the field. Engstrom lead the field to green and would battle early with Nick Robfogel. Robfogel made a pass for the lead on lap 11 and would be pulling away from the field. On lap 13, Robfogel would have mechanical problems and Shaw would take over command. Shaw would hold off the field after a couple late race yellows and go on to win the main event with Engstrom in 2nd and Morrison in 3rd.

Petaluma Speedway is dark this weekend but returns on Sunday, July 3rd for the Pit Stop USA Shootout Round #3, with Winged 360, Spec Sprints, Dwarfs, and 600’s. For more information, please visit our website at http://www.petaluma-speedway.com/
