I apologize but I feel this may have been posted in the past. I was wondering where there are some great places to eat that are on everyone's list when they go to Knoxville and stay in the area. I know the BBQ just outside the track is good. I'm just looking for new things to try this year.

Thanks

Zombie Burger in Des Moines is a pretty cool place, whenever I have friends come visit I usually take them there... beware, they don't take reservations and there is typically a wait to be seated

The Iowa Cattlemans tent out front by skate rink. The best prime rib sandwichs and Iowa corn on the cob, can't beat either of these.

Jethros, best brisket, tenderloin sandwich and macaroni n cheese ever. Everything I've ever eaten there was outstanding. Better than famous Dave's and Sonny Brian's in Texas

same question...flight lands Tuesday afternoon, staying all week in West Des Moines.  Obviously will be trying all the race track food wed-sat, but what are some suggestions for a good steak dinner or something on Tues night in Des Moines area?  Will def try the BBQ place for lunch one of the days before heading out to Knoxville.  Thanks in advance!

Jethros has a website and two locations in DSM. Ive been to the one near the amusement park. I'd check tripadvisor.com for a steakhouse

Yet to understand, Mr. C's food is horrible!  Can't understand why people think it so good?   Yuk!   There salad is lettuce and a tomato!  Go intown Taso's and Swamp Fox Pub downtown!   Since Udders is now closed that's my picks.  Been going there for loooooong tim e

For steak, I like Johnny's Italian Steakhouse, and there are 3 of them in the Des Moines metro - all pretty easy to get to from Knoxville.. see link.  http://johnnysitaliansteakhouse.com/locations/

I've never eaten at 801 Chop House in downtown DSM, but have heard it's good.  Same for Fleming's near Jordan Creek in WDM.

All 3 of them are pretty pricey... but if you want a good steak dinner, you probably know that they don't give them away!

The Mexican joint in Knoxville, Casa Grande, is terrible if you actually like Mexican food.  Head to Pella on Main St. off the square to El Charro.  I lived in Arizona for 39 years and it is one of the best I have been to.

My wife told me if I went to one more Sprint Car race
she would leave me.................I'm sure gonna miss
that ol' gal.

Pizza Ranch in Pella is usually one of our stops.  Buffet of pizza, fried chicken, veggies, gravy, salad and of course hot pie and ice cream.  All good stuff and decent price.

To each his own. I've lived in Colorado 37 years & think its pretty good. No way is it "terrible". Perfectly willing to try your place tho...

The biggest debate in my former home of Leadville Co. (Highest incorporated town in USA) was which was the best Mexican restaurant. Some people absolutely refused to go to my fave. Colorado is known for "New Mexico style" , green chile based food. Like Arizona, it was once part of Mexico itself....

Whatever happened to the Marion County Pork Producers that used to be across from the track?
