i like hoosier racing tires but there is never a good woo points battle on them the last few years they ran goodyear i no they blow and wear out quick but the goodyears really made for an unbelievable points chase theres always such big gaps in the points on hoosiers just my opinion what does everyone else think on this topic seen alot of good racing in the past few years on goodyear tires and also on hoosier tires just not the best point battles

There have been very few years that I've ever cared about the WoO points.
Come to think of it I don't think I've ever been to a race and thought "that race sucked but I'm glad I paid $35 to see the points gap close up".
I'll take good racing over a good points battle any day. Lots of wrecked cars does not usually = good racing.

IMO as a racer, the Hoosiers are far superior to the GY, there might be other teams that didnt struggle with the car on the GY, Ours was terrible with the GY and almost a crapshoot everynight to see what direction the tire would take, we just never got solid evidence of a mature consistancy , the Hoosier is far more predicatble, Id rather spend the extra dough on something I Know the charateristics on and can account for long-short runs on, I would guess 70% of the teams (if not more ) would agree.. dont get me wrong on this debate, every team had the same consequences via tire and track condition. we however, would be in line at the Hoosier trailer givin the choice of the two.

When Goodyear was the "tire of choice", there was extra $$$$ and free tires for the promoter to award to the competitors. With the change to Hoosier, that seems to have gone away. On another note,at the recent Lernerville WOO show, more than a couple of tires blew out! I wonder what happened??

Agreed, the GY did set a contigency to run thier product on all four courners, recieving a new "shoe" from time to time was helpfull, the Hoosier is majorly lacking in this effort, if you want to call it, selective marketing, greed, or just failing to give back to thier customers? , this entire tire deal would open up so many more avenues if the clinch of use as per sanctioning would open, im afraid those days are long gone, Quite honestly Hoosier IMO is a racing tire manufacture I know they produce street tires ect , but proubly not to the quanitly or calibur of GY, im by no means a tire expert nor affiliated in the tire industry, many product names are housed under the same molding and machineing , is Hoosier affilited with a DOT tire manufacture that maybe John Q plublic doesnt know about? GY hat was thrown into a market they proubly dont need, BUT, selling tires for conventional vehicals as compaired to racecars boy what a difference in Mileage! sell more product by quanity that lasts longer, or less that taylor to specifics for racers?

another tidbit of my grumbelings when it comes to tires, why is a LF RF only 20-30% less than a RR? there is only half the material used in this tire, that is very costly, I understand manufacturing and material used, but, really? $170+ for a tire that is about $100 in a conventional radial DOT tire, a tire with the same diameter and width (with more rubber and steel banding ins, listings speedratings ect) seems more liabilities (costs)are in a conventional tire of the same size.. but the costs are less.. Greed simple Greed..

I think the WOO tells tire makers how they want tires to perform, and tires are built to do so.
