Congrats to Donny Goeden and Bobby Walldan's crew.

How about Moulis running with a flat left rear from lap 10 on, and holding on to 5th!!

Glad the rain held off.

Scotty Neitzel takes 1-Lap at the end of qualifications due to mechanical problems on his initial attempt. Which rain sprinkles start very lightly on that 1st attempt of his.

Weld Racing Heat (10 Laps) Top-4 Transfer to A Feature.
1. Dave Moulis [4]; 2. Wayne Modjeski [1]; 3. Mike Reinke [6]; 4. Dave Uttech [3]; 5. Travis Whitney [7]; 6. Joe Symoens [8]; 7. Patrick Haynes [5]; 8. David O’Neal [2]; 9. Jeremy Schroeder [9]; 10. Adam Schroeder [10].

Initial start is called back after O’Neal washed above the cushion above turn 2 and stalls. Restart: Modjeski takes initial lead over Moulis and Uttech out of turn 2. Lap-2: Moulis threatens to take the lead on the high line of turn 2. Lap-3: Moulis takes the lad on the front stretch. Lap-10: Reinke takes 3rd out of turn 4.

Lane Automotive Heat
1. Tommy Sexton [2]; 2. Donny Goeden [4]; 3. Mike Dubs [1]; 4. Tim VanDerVere [9]; 5. Scott Biertzer [3]; 6. Scott Semelmann [5]; 7. Ryan Irwin [7]; 8. Scott Lenz [6]; 9. Russel Borland [10]. DNF-Todd King [8].

Sexton leads Dubs and Goeden through turns 1-2. Lap-1: Goeden shows Dubs the right rear tire and Dubs loses ground out of turn 2, before the lap ends Biertzer loose through turns 1-2 which carries through turn 3-4 and King suffers the end effect of an ill-handling Biertzer car. King catches a wheel and repeatedly flips and ends teetering on the catch fence exiting turn 4. He was Ok, but done. Biertzer is towed to the work area to change a flat right rear. Restart: VanDerVere takes 4th out of turn 2 from Semelmann. Lap-6: Goeden begins to close in on Sexton through turns 1-2, but loses that ground through 3-4. Lap-8: Biertzer has worked back into 5th. Lap-10: Sexton wins by about ½ car length.

MPD Race Products
1. Billy Warren [4]; 2. Scotty Neitzel [3]; 3. Scott Uttech [8]; 4. Scott Young [5]; 5. Darrell Dodd [7]; 6. Cainen Riemann [10]; 7. Jeff Becker [9]; 8. Kirk Fehrman [2]; DNF-Bill Wirth [1]; DQ-John Haeni [6].

Initial start: Wirth with a good start gets called back after Haeni and Fehrman tangle in between turns 1-2. Both are able to tag the back for a complete restart. Becker elects to stay there anyway. Restart was waved off as Wirth with too good of a head start over Warren. Riemann elects to restart at the tail. By the end of Lap-1, Warren leads Neitzel then the field is slowed when the yellow is out after Haeni spins and stalls near the exit of turn 2. Wirth and Uttech had a nice battle for 2nd going until Lap-2 fares no better for Haeni, stalls after spinning in turn 3. Per IRA rules, 2 unassisted spins and you head pit side. Lap-6: Red flag after Young and Wirth exchange 3rd a couple of times running side-by-side around the track and something had to give. This ends after Young drives deep through turns 3-4 under Wirth and they touch wheels with an end result of Wirth smacking the wall exiting turn 4. Wirth expressed his displeasure as Young cruised around under caution. Lap-7: Dodd closed in on Young, but not much came of it.

VMAC Racing Heat
1. Mike Kertscher [4]; 2. Ty Bartz [2]; 3. Jason Johnson [1]; 4. Steve Meyer [3]; 5. Brian Kristan [6]; 6. Kris Spitz [8]; 7. Kim Mock [5]; 8. Billy Hafemann [7]; 9. Johnny Fahl [9].

Initial start waved off, front row was not across the chalk together. Which nixed a dominate run out of turn 2 by Kertscher. Johnson lead the restart ahead of Kertscher. Good early battle between Bartz, Meyer and Kristan for 3rd. Lap-4: Kertscher takes the lead out of turn 2. By Lap-8, the Top-3 were fairly safe and within a lap closed in on each other with Bartz taking 2nd out of turn 2 and Meyer holds off Kristan at the stripe.

First Behling Racing Equipment B Feature (12 Laps) Top-3 transfer.
1. Brian Kristan [1]; 2. Scott Biertzer [4]; 3. Scott Semelmann [3]; 4. Travis Whitney [6]; 5. Kris Spitz [9]; 6. Adam Schroeder [11]; 7. Kirk Fehrman [5]; 8. Scott Lenz [1]; 9. Jeff Becker [10]; 10. Joe Symoens [8]; 11. Cainen Riemann [12]. DNF-Darrell Dodd [7].

Fehrman required a 2nd push off, sent to the tail for the start. Kristan leads Biertzer around the circle with a good battle between Dodd and Semelmann for 3rd. Lap-2: Dodd takes the position out of turn 4 using the low line.
Lap-3: yellow flag for Fehrman, spins off the banking above turn 1. Erased a nice lead Kristan had over Biertzer. Dodd ducks pit side under caution handing Semelmann back the transfer spot. Riemann is sans a front wing.
Lap-6: Yellow back out as Symoens spun a 180 in turn 1. Defending Champ and point co-leader Whitney is mired back in 6th about now. Lap-7: Lenz gets loose through turns 1-2 and loses 2 spots, loses another 2 spots a lap later.

2nd Behling Racing Equipment B Feature
1. John Haeni [1]; 2. Patrick Haynes [2]; 3. David O’Neal [4]; 4. Ryan Irwin [6]; 5. Jeremy Schroeder [7]; 6. Kim Mock [3]; 7. Johnny Fahl [8]; 8. Russel Borland [9]. DNF-Billy Hafemann [5]. DNS-Bill Wirth, DNS-Todd King.

2002 Champ Haeni erased doubts his earlier spins were due to missing equipment in the helmet section of the car by leading this one comfortably from the get go over Haynes and Mock. By Lap-4, those guys are fairly safe in transfer spots. Lap-6: Borland spins a 180 in turn 2 and restarts. The yellow flag is out on the restart after Hafemann climbs the left rear of Mock and they tangle between the low side of turns 1-2, both tag the tail to restart. O’Neal receives the gift of 3rd. A lap around and Haeni, Haynes and O’Neal are nose-to-tail, but not really pushing the issue to take each other out. Lap-9: Hafemann ducks pit side.

Sprinkles begin during the Modified Feature and much to the delight of the partisan crowd, 4 laps into the books and that one is called to due lack of cerebral driving with those guys. Mod Feature summary: Start: Someone spun, Restart: Someone spun, Restart: Two guys tangled and stalled. Restart: They made 2 complete laps under green. Then a Yellow flag for a spin. Restart: Someone spun. Restart: Another 2 guys tangle. Ridiculous.

Wayne Daun Memorial Feature (30 Laps)
1. Donny Goeden [7] $2,000; 2. Mike Kertscher [5]; 3. Steve Meyer [3]; 4. John Haeni [12]; 5. Dave Moulis [8];
6. Mike Reinke [10]; 7. Tommy Sexton [2]; 8. Scott Young [9]; 9. Scott Biertzer [16]; 10. Scott Uttech [21]; 11. Tim VanDerVere [22]; 12. Jason Johnson [20]; 13. David O’Neal [17]; 14. Scott Neitzel [11]; 15. Scott Semelmann [15];
16. Kenny Haynes [14]; 17. Travis Whitney; 18. Ty Bartz [1]; DNF-19. Brian Kristan [13]; DNF-20. Billy Warren [6]; DNF-21. Dave Uttech [4]; DNF-22. Mike Dubs [19]; DNS-Wayne Modjeski [18].
Alternate: Travis Whitney.
Lap leaders: Ty Bartz 1-9, Mike Kertscher 10-11, Donny Goeden 12-30.

Modjeski ducks pit side after making about 2 parade laps, money from Minnesota can be spent just as easily in Wisconsin, allowing Whitney to start. Bartz takes the green and leads Sexton, Kertscher around the track.
Lap-2: Kertscher takes 2nd out of turn 2. Someone call Father Merrin as Kertscher appears possessed. Kertscher keeps checking the backstretch wall for cracks as he takes the high line out of 2nd ducks deep into 3 closing in on Bartz. Goeden is moving up nicely. Lap-9: Traffic is just ahead of Bartz and Kertscher had taken the lead for a moment unit the yellow is out after Johnson spins a 180 on the bottom of turn 2. Whew. Breathe.
Running order: Bartz, Kertscher, Goeden, Sexton, Meyer, Warren, Moulis, Kristan, Young and Haeni in 10th. Neitzel, Biertzer, Reinke, D. Uttech, VanDerVere, Haynes, Semelmann, Dubs, O’Neal, Whitney, S. Uttech and Johnson round out. Restart: Bartz holds off Kertscher for 2 and ½ corners as Kertscher slams into turn 3 for the lead, Bartz had to have been awestruck as it sent him spinning to a stall. Don’t think they made contact as Kertscher cleared him then he spins. Another lap around and the yellow is out for Neitzel, stall son the top of turn 2. Negates the pass Meyer had just made for 3rd from Sexton. Neitzel into the work area and rejoins the field. All 22 starters are still on the track. Lap-12: After a couple of laps, side-by-side and using every inch of available racing surface, Goeden officially takes the lead from Kertscher in some great racing. What was wild, Whitney spins on the front stretch almost unnoticed as the battle for the lead was so awesome. Moulis has worked into the Top-5. Restart: Goeden starts checking the backstretch wall for cracks as he is clearing mud off the wall out of turn. Goeden and Kertscher exchange the lead, I don’t how many times around the track and this is just an awesome sight! Lap-14: Red flag is out as Dubs flipped in turns 1-2, he was Ok. People have passed out due to lack of oxygen, dogs and cats are sitting next to each other in the stands as this battle between Goeden and Kertscher for the lead in this one is just too crazy. Running order for Lap-15 restart: Goeden, Kertscher, Sexton, Meyer, Moulis, Kristan, Haeni, Warren, Reinke, Young in the Top-10. Then Biertzer, VanDerVere, Johnson, O’Neal, D. Uttech, Haynes, Semelmann, Neitzel, Bartz, S. Uttech and Whitney all on lead lap, no lapped traffic. Lap-16: The lead swaps again through turns 1-2 and back around 3-4. Meyer takes 3rd from Sexton as Moulis sends Sexton back another out of turn 2. Kristan busts a 360 spin around turn 2, so one of those “Inadvertent Yellows” comes out. Haeni now moves in 6th, Reinke 7th. Goeden was able to control the restart and put some distance between himself and Kertscher. Lap-20: Meyer tiptoes using the extreme bottom line of turns 3-4 and takes 2nd. Lap-23: Haeni has moved into the Top-5. Lap-24: Yellow flag after Bartz and Kristan tangle on the bottom of turns 1-2. 6 Laps-to-go and Goeden will lead Meyer, Kertscher, Moulis, and Haeni around solidly. Meyer and Kertscher exchange 2nd a couple of times as Haeni and Moulis trade position. S. Uttech ducks off the track as Warren is done around Lap-27. L
ap-28: Yellow flag for Kristan, spanks the front stretch wall out of turn 4 and calls it a night to set up a Green-White-Checker. Goeden was able to keep Kertscher at arms length as Meyer used the low line through turns 3-4 to take hold of the point lead.

Goeden takes a Kulwicki victory lap in celebration and gave due credit to Kertscher for an awesome battle for the lead.

Chris Hartnell probably has the smallest trailer to haul the 80K from race-to-race, To think, Kertscher part-timed it last year and drove a 360 Sprint a few times and made only a couple of 410 starts while juggling his “Real Job”.

Personal note to LMEI at Wilmot, as a Sprint Car Racing fan: The ad in the IRA Yearbook is unacceptable. Promoting “Flips” and “Rollovers” is low brow entertainment. No real fan attends races to see that kind of stuff. Keep the bloodlust for the wrestling and Springer crowd. You only attract the lowest of people with that kind of promoted value.

GREAT SHOW! That had to be one of the best races I've seen at Wilmot in years. Congrats to Goeden! His battle with the brakeless Kertscher was outstanding!

Looks like the IRA champion bought his way into the A. I hope a certain columnist adds that into her article, she rarely leaves anything out so hopefully she'll tell everyone how much it cost the team.

Michael, nice job of reporting...had to admit I was scrambling when I saw Kenny Haynes in the feature, but then realized you meant his brother Patrick...LOL

Bill-It was such a wild race and then stayed too long visiting with everybody since Dodge made it a long night and then this afternoon's fire at Charter...Just didn't proof read it well enough and the format today is kinda jacked. Some times it works and sometimes not.

All credit to you for your initial design and reporting of this stuff, you started this deal to show us how to report a race and share it so everyone can sometimes get a better picture of what may have happened. One thing I do find hard is trying to be objective when I see something I personally may not agree with. Even with a driver/team I enjoy talking too, it's kinda hard to report a move he made on the track as "competitive move" versus "wheel'd and shoved out of the way."

"Kenny Haynes"-Oh, yeah, that would be some old school right there. He probably was there last night in a midget or one of them "non-wangers". It was just that insane. So cool to see a Feature like that. Like the Dobmeier win last year with Pittman and Campbell at the stripe was craaaazy.

It's just so odd, problems with Wilmot and then you get these kinda Features. Catch-22.

Like pick a driver outta Wisconsin to run Knoxville last night and who would have guessed Billy Balog? Kinda cool he was there though.

I think I am overly tired as someone who hates talking, I've said a lot.... Thanks and Good Night.
