Have heard from a reliable source that some individuals that have done more for ASCS 360 sprint car racing in AZ than anyone else in the past 2 years would prefer that those owners and drivers not support this new deal. I agree!!!! I say leave this new track for sand drags, motorcycles, dwarfs, bombers, lady stocks, X mods and all that other stuff that only friends and family attend. I am concerned these open shows will dilute the strong field of ASCS cars ( 28 per show) we see at Canyon and USA..... I may be wrong...but I doubt it. I hope those 360 sprint car drivers and owners will support those individuals that have worked so hard to give them 2 exiciting ASCS tracks to race at..USA and Canyon....

So you heard from somebody that a somebody or two said this or that, and you agree? I promise I'll let you know what somebody has to say after the race Saturday at Arizona Speedway, and that somebody will be me!

Arizona Speedway has not scheduled against the ASCS shows. Are you suggesting that the owners should park their cars and not support a new track in the Phoenix area?? Sorry, but I think you are very wrong, owners and drivers want to race. Stay home if you feel you need to support only Canyon and USA.

Any 360's from the coast, come on out and check out this new track. It's a great facility! Make a weekend out of it. The first event pays $1500.00 to win! Be a part of the first Sprint car race at the new Arizona Speedway! The opening day was attended by over 3000 people in the stands alone. Can you imagine the energy of that place? This is just what we need to help promote our sport. Many people have worked hard to make this event the best that it can be. Let's show our support for the owner's hard work and dedication. We hope to see you there.

The racers want it, the fans want it, Arizona needs it, and our sport deserves it. How can this be a bad thing?

This weekends race at Arizona Speedway is going to be the best thing to happen in this valley since we lost Manzy. As we all know racing took a BIG hit with no track in the valley, so I guess I just don't understand how having one again can be a bad thing for the sport.

Racing at 7:30 and it's going to be GREAT!! Smile

Lets throw a tantrum when we loose a track and then cry when a new track opens. I don't get it.

The biggest problem we have in Arizona is the ASCS leadership. They have the mentality that there is only room for them. If the grass was so green there would not be this push for another option. ASCS is now the Premier association in AZ, It's time they act like it and look at this new option as a possible feeder association to help grow racing in general.

You know how we always try to get new people out to the track knowing that if there was a good show they would like it and come back? Now imagine that being pulled off in spades, but with only 14 Sprint cars, mini sprints and some bombers. The place was packed, and even with the small car count the people were happy with the exciting racing, and had a great time.

I did see something last night that made me realise how complacent some of us old hard core guy's have become... Tom Ogle flew over the rail in three with a little help, and when they announced he was OK (we couldn't see him) there was the usual applause and then silence. Tom then came into view again as he'd come back over the rail and started the long walk back to the pits along the front stretch. As he walked along the grandstands each section as he passed by broke into spontaneous applause. It was like a slow wave that ran the whole length of the front strech. I've never seen anything quite like it before... It must have made Tom feel a little friendly too, because he gave RJ Johnson a little wave as he passed by him sitting as he was sitting the track under the red.

Here's a good story with some pictures.http://www.abcmotorsports.com/azspeedway5-8-11.htm

And there's a thread or 3 about it here..http://abcteam.websitetoolbox.com/?forum=182443
