I'm gonna predict 50 cars....and it will be a FANTASTIC 3 nights of racing with all cars racing each night!!!! Remember when Keith Hall would get 50 cars? You would see 25 on Thursday the next 25 on Friday...and only on the final night you would see all the cars together. ( or what was left )

I would agree that 50 cars sounds about right. Blake Fitzpatrick, one of the young driving stars of Indiana, is supposed to be out this year in a Bubby Jones chasis (Spike) that is a sister to the new Alexander #4 driven by Tony Jones. With Stanbrough, Levi Jones, Damian Gardner, Dave Darland and the rest of the national guys it should be a great three days of racing!

Always 3 great night of racing. Its the best race of the year. I just dont see how 50 cars will be there. Well 50 410's...... I predict 40 to 45 cars.

I would say 40 410's maybe....

That is why there is 2 classes 2 of the nights....they need support.

Great track ,and great racing, and National points don't pay the bill's,so money has become a big roll in the show...

Good news is they predict no double dip in 2011 economy.

There were times when the non wing portion of the Western was held on Friday night, and there were over 50 cars for that one night, and of course the best racing of the whole 3 day show! If I remember right, he only ran that split of the field a few time's, if more than once, because it cut down the overall attendance, plus he had to listen to people like me bitch at him.frown Actually through the years, they had a number of different formats.

Enjoy this years Oval Nationals with the usac/cra 410 because it could be the last one with 410. Next

year usac/cra 410 could be gone, with Beezer and Steve O, most likely not coming back in 2011.

Look for the PAS to go to ASCS 360 for the 2011 Oval Nationals. Also with Ventura most likely

starting a full size midget division next year, no more usac midgets in socal.

The only fact is that there will for sure be no Ford Focus midget's at Ventura. Esslinger is developing a spec motor that will be EFI and rumored to be $10,000 turnkey and be "cheat proof" and last much longer in between freshen up's.

Just what the 410's needed - another false Prophet! I am so tired of hearing about ASCS and 360s at the PAS. Geezzzzzzzzzz... Last I looked the non-wing ASCS program's in Tuscon were short on sprint cars.

Telling statement...does this mean the drivers/owners should get off their butts -reform SCRA and get back in control of their destiny...thats the only future I see for 410's in So. Cal

Reforming the SCRA only works if the track operators allow it to. Remember the SCRA was just fine until the PAS, Ventura and Mazinita locked them out.

I don't post on here much but sometimes I have to throw my 2 cents in. 410's are great to watch but if you can't get a field of cars what is the point? If you have a field of 18 410 and some of the cars are "budget" cars is that better than a field of 40 cars with 30 or so quality cars. Who is going to put on a good show. How about this, run 360's for the same purse as the 410's and don't start the fast qualifier on the pole. Oh and forget to tell them they are 360's...

maybe the pas will throw in some incentives for the highest finishing 360 to get more cars for the Ovals.

Seems like there was a lot of hand wringing about car counts last year prior to the Ovals. Seems like the count was indeed down. I also seem to remember that the Friday night feature was one of the best sprint car races I've ever seen. I'd say the bigger concern than car counts is the body count in the stands.

Trippy, I know this is an earth-shaking event but I completely agree with you. Do these experts really think there will be 40 unified car owners that will rush out to drop down $30,000+ for a spec 360 (and obsolete the 410's they already have?).

History time...do any of you "experts" know why they are 410 sprints? If you just want to see awesome speed why not open it up? Sprint cars are in trouble. I remember 500 plus cube sprints in PA. The fast guys will be fast in a 410 or a 360 or a flathead. Full on Outlaw style tow rigs to go 40 miles is really cost affective...How hard is the tow from Riverside to Ventura or Santa Maria? I have seen Ricky Gaunt pull into Santa Maria in a Uhaul unload and just fly! Big buck are all good, if you really have them.
