This is a bunch of crap. Nobody cares about that crap. we have been putting all the time and effort behind saving our dirt track and then they come up with this crap. What a joke. They would have a better chance for a NASCAR track...idots!! Thats all we need is a bunch of race cars tearing up our streete even more. By the way good to see everyone, it's been awhile since I've been on here

If not for HOOTERS (which I need to stop because my belly is expanding too much) I wouldn't be spending any money in the OKC area.

They are alot of racers that own business in OKC or work for a business in OKC. Please don't boycott them. They still need the money to go racing or just to make a living. Remember you are trying to hurt Mick not the racers

Very well put Mike no matter how much we hate the City leaders for their actions. We can not cut our own arm off because PRIDE gets in the way sometimes...

I should have put a disclaimer to just those that don't support racers or racing in general. Thanks for mentioning that Mr. Whitworth.
Enockson, good to see you back even posting just once, it has been awhile.
On another thread it mentioned the Chili Bowl/petition deal, first I have heard of it and if I were those with the Chili Bowl I would have done the same thing. That is what I meant earlier about this "me" or "we" attitude, should be "us" which includes all within the racing community.
I better quit and put my lack of intellegence to work on three NCRA press releases.

every one needs to use a out of city wal-mart , gro. store, auto repair (ask if they are involved in racing) and if not go out of city or use a race supporter, auto parts even if they are supporters (o'reillys, autozone, advanced) if enough people would do this it will hurt the city's pocketbook. use restruants and other places.jmo.

My understanding was that on the city council at the present time that anyone that has ties to auto racing was Gary Mars(sp). He said that he went to Taft and everyone work on cars in the pits at SFS back in the day.
However, at the Feb 9th city council meeting he was very opposed to keeping the grandstand around. I however am led to believe by things I have read in public forums that the other individuals with the old savefair speedway group were working with Cornnett after the Feb 9th date. I am paraphrasing here but I saw around the Feb 10th date this. Met with Mayor Cornett today and all the pieces of the puzzle are falling into place. What that means I have no idea.
I am not sure but I think I was the only person out of this old group speaking with Steve Hunt. I know Uncle A and myself meet with him once and I had numerous conversations with over the net. I even ate dinner with him right up before the election.

It would seem very likley that the pieces "falling into place" were with their own agenda - which has become very clear was not JUST about saving the fairgrounds.
save the rest of the rant for later.

I grew up in Colorado. Ask the people of Denver how they liked the Gran Prix series that ran downtown.
1.6 miles of road around the Pepsi Center was closed off for a week and barricades and other safety devices were put in place (at taxpayer expense). The businesses around the Pepsi Center (some are very high rollers) just had to punt during this time because they had no traffic. No where to park and no access to businesses.
The deal started in about 2001 but the 07 and 08 races were cancelled (prevented lol) due to lack of a major sponsor. To Denverites, the "race" produced no revenue and cost a fortune as the city was responsible for course setup costs. No mention of doing this race in Denver has happened since 06, and as far as I know, there's not one Denverite that didn't wish the series a safe trip and don't let the door hit ya in the butt on the way out.
Politicos organize these deals to come to town and after enough pockets are lined, the project is allowed to fade away after its usefulness is fulfilled.
