The ONLY major upgrade at the fair ground has been to the horse barns. The state fair is an event that they must do in order to get back in to the horse industry. And the race track is in the way of what they really want to do. They want to put in a convention center and that is where they want it to go. Don't kid yourself there are those within the city government that will make tons of money on this thing. That is why they want the track to go away.
But it is not gone yet!!!!

Good job to all that has busted their butts in this fight. It's like any race night track conditions some nights are smooth and almost perfect for some(lol) and it seems like almost everybody is on top. Then you got your rough nights where you can't stay on top of the ruts or stay on the track. You either grit your teeth , get up on the wheel, gather it up and move forward or let off give up and pack it up or quit. This group is fighting for ALL of us in the racing community not just a certain few.
Save Our Speedway is moving forward and all support would be appreciated.
Thank you for the support that we are presently receiving and to the support we receive in the future.

In another thread someone had the idea of building a new ADA
compliant grandstand where the old backstretch used to be.
Maybe it's time to approach things from that angle? It sure
sounds like saving the old grandstand sure ain't gonna happen.

Bottom line is the city government that is in place now love anything but dirt track racing and it is what it is.
It will cost more to tear down the ole' girl than to fix all of her problems back to code. It has been said the cost to tear down the grandstands and level the track might cost approximately of 4 to 5 million . 3 or 4 million to bring it up to code. So there you go politics hard at work to stick it to the racing community.
They want to have another hockey team in OKC and they know right where they want to build the new convention center..
