That's close... They said they would be open to options, and we're still trying to find one that will work..The emails to the council members and county officials is to make them aware of the revenue the track brings to the area, along with the social benefits that come with it as well. We want to show that if the track remained open, and the crane Co were to relocate, but in the same area, it could be a win win situation for everybody involved.
I'm not in on the actual door knocking end of this deal, and that's probably a good thing..LOL My job has been to get the word out and as many signatures and emails as possible.
There also has been no word from the group headed by Hollywood Leary, Manzy's general manager, that is trying to find a place to "relocate" the track.
I posted the following on http://www.abcmotorsports.com/index.htm forum yesterday...The first part is about the way the track was sold, and everyone on that forum understood that.

For now, I keep my thoughts to myself or share with like minded friends. I do that out of respect for the position that we all find ourselves in right now. But there will come a time when that will change. Timing is everything and when it's time, some truths that need to be said, and addressed, will come out. Hollywood and that group should look at the petition and the emails it generated as a positive thing for them. We have brought awareness to the powers that be that people from all over the these United States have looked to AZ, and Phoenix as a place not only to come see a race, but for all the other activities that they can enjoy here as well. Many family's from all over the states have been doing just that as a part of their life's for generations, and have sent emails to that effect. Likewise, some outside of the racing community have gotten a glimpse of what a true family sport racing is. That it's just not a guy or girl in a car going in circles, but a true "family affair". Another factor is that maybe more people might realize that sponsors are part of our community in more way's than one. Not that the money is not significant, but the friendship that can come with it are priceless and will continue, regardless of what happens. I know Hollywood has been thinking of all the positive aspects of our sport, and in particular what kind of $ it might be able to generate for those that are willing to invest in us. Hopefully if our miracle doesn't happen, our efforts will be useful in theirs. Kenny
The tracks still there, and as long as it's still standing, we'll keep trying..
This is a post from today..THIS WOULD BE MY FIRST POST - ANYWHERE, SO BEAR WITH ME! I JUST CAN'T BE QUIET ANYMORE! AS OF TONIGHT, THE PETITION HAS NEARLY 2200 SIGNATURES. I KNOW THERE'S A LOT MORE RACEFANS OUT THERE THAN THAT. LET'S STEP UP, FOLKS. LET'S SHOOT FOR TEN THOUSAND BY 4-11. IF EVERYONE THAT SIGNED SPREADS THE WORD AND GETS 4 MORE PEOPLE TO SIGN, WE'RE THERE! THERE'S STRENGTH IN NUMBERS
