You were saying that the dry tracks were "not safe." So I was stayed with your original idea of safety (remember, keep to the subject!) and translated it to your bad restart idea . I bet you and SmithRacer would be best friends with your gleaming personalities.
I stayed with the topic buddy!
I still believe control is safer at faster speeds, than half as much control at slower speeds when you take a look at the over all picture.
I think the Okie do over or The LS 5 lap shuffle should be done double file. If everyone is as good a driver as they proclaim they are here, then I dont see the point to disagree with it. It tightens up the fast pack, makes for a more driver aware race, and gives the fans the action they crave. Hell it dont require too much to go around when its single file racing for 20 laps. Just keep the dust out of your eyes.
But on this one , I was answering a issue raised. Not a Dam thing wrong with that. You need to stop making up things up.( or was that translating facts into mixed fiction your normal way of conducting an intelligent interaction on a subject you disagree with?) You trying to start something? What kind of crappy idea was that?
At least I have a personality and some ideas, instead of some weird concept that plagiarism makes you look smart and witty. You just look down right .......never mind you know what you look like.
How about you take that super sharp mind or yours and come up with some ideas to fix something instead of constantly pointing out what you think are flaws in someone's thought processes. Ahhhh never mind....dont want ya to get a head ache, you would only blame me for it.
It is really funny how Safety issues are such a dark area. How everybody has a negative take on it.
What is even stranger is to sit here and watch racers and fans do nothing to help their home town track improve and recover. But are full of off the wall crap to toss at me for everything I try to do. And full of things to say about LS but none of it constructive.
Maybe it isn't just Lanny and Company.....maybe its the LS culture of selfish indifference and ignorance of Track economics that are the true culprits at work here.
Come at me with ideas that can be discussed, not silly school boy head games.

Dude!! There are two points I'd like to make.
1. There is such a thing as running a point into the ground.
2. People respond better to criticism if its not mixed with barely shrouded insults.
Really.....well when we start discussing it instaed of beating around the bush and ignoring the facts maybe it will end on its own. Until then feel free to vote with your mouse.
Shrouded insults ? I dont have time for insults, but I can see that most dont have any inhabitions againest it here, so whats your point " DUDE" ?
If I insult someone, please note that I probably took a insult hit prior to it. I rarely insult folks for no reason. Its a stupid kids game anyway! But people like it here on tid bits.
Criticism? Well I dont mean to come off so critical, but I will chill when I see like minded people coming together to help solve issues instead of fighting all the time.
Who cares if the point gets run in the ground...(other than you).....its the end results that count in the end.

Dude get a clue! Seems everyone on here thought the track surface and racing this weekend was good except you!!!! Just because you are from Lawton and are not used to having racing with more than five cars and are not used to having enough cars to dry a track out does not mean that the track was bad or unsafe. You really are starting to look like a kid in Toys-R-Us throwing a fit because nobody will play along with you. For once Lanny had a pretty good race and I am glad to see people actually kinda stand up for it(I'm sure none of them would ever admit to standing up for him tho!). So we all understand your opinion you've made it VERY clear! You didn't like the track, you don't like the midget, you didn't like the slick track because it is unsafe, the burritos were too hot, the dirt in the pits is too dirty, the ice in the drinks is too cold, and there were no burritos because Lee and Cheese ate them all. Well put on a clean diaper and come to OKC this weekend. If the track is like it has been all year you will get to see a locked down track with no passing (but it will be SAFER cuz they are going faster....). By the way you asked "Who cares if the point gets run in the ground?" well..... I DO!!!!! any others out there?
I've noticed that you posted 90 times in less than a month, and nearly half of the responces of this thread have come from you. And quite a few non-discript insults as well. I really don't care about the insults or the number of times you post. But have you ever heard of the phrase "Your mouth goes like a ducks ass"? That would be you!!!! Alot comes out and it seems to be nothing but crap, and useless crap at that. I don't know why you get so wound up over something that isn't gonna change in the near future. And besides you're not gonna race at Lawton anymore so I guess this thread can end here. With that said, can we start a new thread so we can get bashed even more by you, Mr Mad Mike Burch...Not Hiding from U?
Mike Bechtel, that's me, I live in Mustang, I don't go to any of Lanny's tracks anymore, I'm a diehard Sellers, Walker, Peters, Jennings, Passmore, Smith, Goodman, and Dittman fan. And been around sprint racing most of my 50 years. But I've never heard anybody bitch as much as you.

You have your opinion. I have mine.....this is still America isn't it?
Who cares if you agree with me or not, its my opinion. You want to play or not! I don't care, its your choice.
Not everyone agrees with you, and not everyone agrees with me. That's what we are all about, but at some point there may be a compromise, and that is what makes for advancement, innovation, and positive change.
If you have an important issue you wanted to address and threw it out there, you to would respond and defend your position otherwise you would be a spineless pushover. No one respects a fence rider.
Your point that the track last Saturday at LS was How Real Dirt Racing is Supposed to be is your opinion and I will defend your right to have that opinion.
What I look like to you or anyone is not important to me, and shoudn't be to you. You didn't have to get on this thread and post a response if you dont like my opinion. You seem not to Like our little corner of the State, our poor car count and all that. Our lack of a Slow Dry Capped, slip track for your REAL racing talents to shine. Okay....thats your opinion, your entitled to it.
I do like LS, just not the track conditions on the 4th of Oct. Who is the Midget anyway? They were out out those Great Burritos cause someone ate them all, dont know if they were too hot or not, the the pit dirt was too clean, nope the Ice was just right, always is. I like track food....so nice!

If you are talking about SFS in OKC, I wont be there, we are headed to Lake Country this week. Great Folks there, Good track, fast cars, humble drivers who help each other out.....track food !!!!!

The only complaint we had all weekend was the fact that the Limited guys only had a 15 lap feature, the track was great, couldn"t have asked for a better bunch of people to pit around either. We got torn up pretty bad Friday night, just one of those racing things that happen.... Part of the game there...anyway we had all kind of offers for help that night and really didn't know if we would get our car back together or not..... But come saturday morning and we were nicely surprised that other drivers came back early to the pits where we stayed and helped us tear it apart and put it back together.... 2 different groups with welders came by and welded stuff back together for us... friends drove to Lawton and brought us parts and we were able to run the A-main on Saturday night..... got put on the back when we stopped on the track to avoid destroying another driver's car when he spun out on lap 6...... brought it back to finish 10th in 8 laps.... didn't see that the DRY-BLACK- ICE (as some put it) was a big problem at all.....just not enough laps to get to the front.
We race all over OK, TX, NM, LA and can say that the track was about the same surface wise as it is in most places....DRY... We are lic. with IMCA.... and there were several cars there that couldn't pass inspection at a IMCA track .... and no teching was done, not even checking the vaccuum, which only takes less than 5 min per car.
I just don't understand the 15 lap thing. Most Big Shows run a 25, 30, 40, or 50 lap feature. If the cars are leagal then this isn't a problem with these cars as a class... was told by a track official that it was to hard on this class to run more than the 15 laps because of heating problems.....lol.... If its leagal then it don't overheat.

I'm so glad you dont come to Lawton. I drive around Mustang dont want a ticket for going too fast over the post limit!!

If I respond to your rant with a like rant, then no ones the lesser for it. But.........If you want to discuss a topic in an intellectual manner with respect for fellow racers/sponsors opinion, without plugging insult after mindless insult and oneupmanship at every turn, I ready......how about you?

What was your car number.....I want to check and see if you were one of my final three? It was the stopping on the track thing that has me wondering, ok?
Glad you had a positive experience at LS. Yes the track operation has its issues. I wish we had some answers for you and everyone else who might run out there, but we dont. I dont see any future changes either in my crystal ball.
That was a great story, that goes to show everyone that racers are the best people around when it comes to helping out and getting that guy back in the race.
I dont like the lack of IMCA sanctioning at LS, or the the lack of tech. The 15 lap thing was because the track owner was running two of his own cars in it, and trust me, they over heat in 10 laps. They were built for DB and I'm not sure about the rear gears being right for LS.
I appreciate the track conditions around the region. They are mostly run dry. You have to run on what you have at the time, I understand that. Can you understand that we were not used to it and we were set up for it to go the other way longer? Our tires were all wrong and the pressures were off. It was too late to change a lot of things before the A, it all went slick too fast. What do you think about that?
Your right about the overheating issue!!!!!!!!! LOL

Our car was the #23. We had raced there before and came from the middle to run #rd that night... would have gotten 2nd but decided it was all or nothing on the last lap.... tried to pass the leader and got cut off... checked up and ended up 3rd.
want to say congradulations to the #9 out of Amarillo for his great run.

They did check the vaccuum and what cars couldn't pass IMCA tech?
I am not going to point fingers or stir up alot of BS thats not a game i play at all...... its easy to figure that one out if you follow the IMCA Sports Mods at all.... Check for yourself ....Enid races who didn't pass... DQ'd. Amarillo race....DQ's.... Waco race DQ's..... But then again Lawton don't run IMCA rules so we knew that going there..... Our car has never been DQ'd anywhere we have run 100% on the money and is competitive anywhere we go ..... that was my main point. The track was to be expected for a 2 day race.... and we went, it was close enough to home for our sponsors and fans to go and get to see us race also so made it all the sweeter.
We will be going to OKC when they run there. And have never been to the Devil's bowl so going there too.
There are other tracks running for a whole lot more money, thats not an issue, we like the challenge of racing at new tracks and getting to know other drivers from different areas..... it makes a better driver out of you....

OK let me put it to you this way. Who didn't pass tech at Enid, Amarillo, and Waco. Like to be in the know as we are relatively new to Southern Sportmods

Okay. I got it....Car #23. We will check and later someone may e-mail you, ok?
Yup....your smart....point a finger at anyone on here and its like Persian Arrows coming at you from the Movie "The 300". Don't matter if your exactly right or totally wrong, your gonna get it. Its like a Hillbilly Thing, talk about one banjo player and hundreds more come out of the woods pickin' the same song.
LS isn;t going to DQ cars during a tech-inspection ( even if they did one for all series) before a race. The car count is more important, and LS dont want to offend anyone who towed in from the DB or SFS, especially the open wheel gang who invest heavily in running at these tracks. ( dont get your dander-up open wheelers, just stating a fact, not knocking it !!! ...down boys...down...) !!! LS, DB, and SFS are all owned by the same people.
The fact that you have always passed your tech and never had a DQ speaks volumes about your race program, and you should be proud of that statistic.
Up to date IMCA rule compliance is easy to do if you want to. It would be nice to have the above listed tracks all on the same page. And yes it did allow you to be very competitive at LS Winter Nationals, which is another level of the point I have been attempting to make.
You expected the track conditions that eventually developed. LS regulars had no reason to believe that track conditions would be any different than they had been most of the season. Your experience and preparation allowed you to be very competitive.
You are correct. a driver has to race against better drivers to improve. Then again what is the drivers intentions, and future plans. If a big fish in a little pond is what you want then you dont branch out much. If you want to earn a commercial ride, you have got to improve your skills exponentially every season and increase your travelling, as well type of race car you compete in.

Mike that was my point, when you go somewhere to race you go prepared to do just that and the old saying "when in Rome do what the Romans do" applies..... you don't go to make waves you go to drive and compete....there is only 1 driver on any given night in each class that goes home totally happy...but it is what it is and you deal and improve.....
No matter what the promoters like.... what the track conditions are you learn to deal with it.....then go home do your homework... learn from talking with the regulars how they set their cars up etc. keep a book on set ups for different tracks.. with information on conditions... set-up's. Lap times... who got DQ'd if any and for what.....It pays to know if you were beat by a better driver....or if you know what their background is... then you are prepared when you have to race against them again...
It does no good to complain about any one track or conditions it just gets you in trouble or black listed if you decide to visit again....
So let me get this right mikeypoo..... Your whole rant is not truly because the track was slick, but basically because your driver or drivers didn't watch the track and adjust their setups accordingly to the dry slick conditions??????
