I was wondering how A driver that had been disqualified the week prior. And lost his points for the night. How come he would get to start on the pole? I realize that there is no show up points. And that it goes by points average. If I understand it right when they figure the points average they devide it by half for every time shown up. If they have been disqualified shouldn't that show up as not being there at all? If it doesn't then it looks like that driver has A bad points average. When really he has A good one.And then you have A very fast car starting on the pole.I also want to understand why A race car can come and set in the pits for show up points and not race but some of the time. And when he does he starts the pole. And he is very fast too. It just kinda takes some of the fun out of racing. I was wanting to know if any one has any ideas how we can fix this issue? This is my first year at Meeker.Everywhere else we've raced it wasn't like that. We are enjoying it over all.I really thought that the whole purpose of the points average was to keep it fair.I'm not knocking anyone or the track JUST CONFUSED!!!! Thanks for hearing me out.

Wow Shelly, you have a lot of questions all wrapped up in one there. LOL! Without knowing specifics, I can't quote specifics. Send me an e-mail and I'll disuss it with you.
I'll also try to answer some of your question here. I want to check my facts, first. But watch this post, and I'll get back to you.

If they started by points average, and inverted the start, a driver with no points starts up front.
It's not HOW fast you go, but how you GO fast.

If this happened at SFS, Lawton, or Devils Bowl the answer is simple.
The Score Keepers at these tracks are more confused than a Gay feller in a Mens Locker Room.
Which in turn confuses us all.

The points averages are figured by taking the number of points a driver has earned, and dividing them by HIS number of appearances. For example if a driver has earned 300 points, and has raced 3 nights, he has an average of 100. Low point averages start up front, with the exception of late-comers and new drivers, both of whom start on the back.
A driver coming off a D'Q would have a slightly lower point average for a while, as the night he was D'Q'd still counts as a time run, but gains no points. Using the above example if our driver is D'Q'd on night 4, his average becomes 75.
At Brill Motor Speedway, there are no such thing as show up points, although every driver who mudpacks gets 25 points, just for packing.
As far as sitting in the pits, I assume you mean missing an assigned heat race. To my knowledge no one has been allowed to do this, unless there were mechanical problems with the car, or physical problems with the driver.
When/if car counts ever get to the magic 20 cars per division number, I strongly suspect that those who miss thier assigned heat race will have to run a consi race (or B Feature) in order to make the "A" Feature. As it stands, in the interest of fairness to all, and providing the most racing for the spectator dollar, everryone makes the "A".
I would not suggest that a driver let Mark find out that he intentionally missed his heat race, just to go straight to the "A". He would not be pleased.

Hey, Thanks for the info. But, I still don't see how it would be fair to keep the number of appearance for the night of being D.Q'd. And I wasn't talking about the heat race.I meant the A feature.Sorry it was A little confusing. It is no big deal. I was just trying to understand. And have watched A certain car just sit out A few A features while not working on car. And when he does race he starts up front. But,I'm over it. L.O.L.Once again Thanks and everyone have A great weekend!!!!See you at the races.

What is the difference between show up points and appearances??And A time ran? It seems to all be the same.

Show up points would be points for just coming through the gate. Appearances and times ran would be the same thing.
I can't understand why anyone would pay to get in (pit passes, etc.) and not run the A, unless there was something wrong with the car, or driver. Kinda why you bring your car to the track is to make the "A". Especially since we don't pay for heat races.
