Isn't Shane Golobic primarily a midget driver? If so, that makes a great run against some serious competition even more impressive.

Shane has run a midget on dirt and pavement this year as well and winged and non wing cars.
The 16 year old now has a win in a winged sprint car and a non winged car as well a pavement midget in his short career.
Very impressive...

I met him and his family at Petaluma last year for a 360 race. Very nice kid and a great family. Looks like he is on the same path as Brad Sweet with wings for now and a trip to Indiana this summer.

While I was happy for Shane and car owner Joe VonShriltz (sp) wasn't that race the most pathetic thing you have seen in a long while ?? Dismal car count, single grove track, follow the leader 'racing'. Compare to the previous week's 360 race at Watsonville, 32 cars, plenty of passing. Whats happening to 410 sprint car racing in California ??

He made an appearance in a 410 non-wing car at Bloomington, IN last summer. He gave out photos and signed autographs for the fans. Seems like a very nice young man.

I assume all the local 360 guys were up north racing with the Civil War series. I don't think there is anything wrong with the 410 winged scene. This race just didn't draw a bunch of cars because Watsonville is a bit of a drive. When you get down to it, a 410 costs 40,000 minimum and a 360 is about 25,000-30,000 minimum.

Is he related to the John Golobic that raced at Baylands? If so, how?

Yes,
Shane is John's son, and one hell of a driver at only 16 years old.
