I didn't have a clue as what to expect, and was a little leary how Chase would be as the main announcer, like most, I suppose.

I thought he was pretty good, no screaming Smile

What did you all think?

He does just fine.  I have no issues with anyone announcing grass-roots pay-per-view racing.  It sure beats the old days when we had to wait for the monthly magazines to hit our mailbox to see who won.  wink  I'm just happy to enjoy the races live.

Last nights program had me recalling being greatly impressed with Chase last year at Port as the pit reporter......i chuckle because at that time last year i was thinking gosh wish he was up top calling the race so i wouldn't have to listen to Earl being Earl - just talk racing without screaming and other talk that has zero to do with racing........to now hoping Chase stays true to form and is not influenced by Earl in becoming the Show and just stays true to being part of the show.

i love going to Port and enjoy evrything - including the many different racing surfaces you may find there :-).....just dread sometimes listening to Earl.

Hard for me to imagine with some off the stuff that is said during a race at Port that management hasn't received any complaints.

Chase did fine.   He did better than I was expecting.   He didn't talk just to talk like some announcers.

He did a good job.. I think he will become better with time. Had to be a stressful first night for him doing that job.

I always had somewhat of a neutral opinion on him just watching the stream races.  Then came the Chili Bowl.....How embarassing.  He was a total clown, and not in a good way.

I also think Chase did a great job, as well as Tony LaPorta in the infield. I think they work well together and make a good team. Happy to see Tony back behind the mic for sprint car racing.

Was nice not to have to watch a race and not have to put the tv on mute like I have to do for Outlaw and Port races. As others have said, nice not to listen to someone screaming or talking about about all the food they ate at the Juniata County Fair.

Great start to the season for BOTH series. I just wish the Outlaws would quit going to Volusia - it just eats motors. Seeing what Bill Balog had to go through was sad.

Announcers usually don't phase me much but I'm convinced that he has incriminating pictures of someone at Port Royal or is using some other form of blackmail. It's the only reasonable and logical explanation for why a track of their caliber would settle for a moron like him. You see him get raked over the coals on social media on a weekly basis. 90% of people can't stand him yet he's still there.

At first I was also in the Anti Earl camp, but to be honest, he has grown on me, as well as many of my racing buddies who sit near me. You certainly can not say he is not passionate about dirt track racing. Let's face it, we need young blood in the sport. Does he get excited sometimes yes, is he a Port Royal Homer, without a doubt. But he loves what he is doing which 85% on this board can not say do. He gets the same rap as the young World of Outlaws Late Model announcer, Rueben Morales. Not sure many of us keyboard warriors could do any better if given a chance.

I like Chase and appreciate how knowledgeable he is, he's obviously a smart kid and brings a new more analytical approach to the booth. That said I think he needs some seasoning. He doesn't seem natural yet and that's to be expected, but given the National scope of High Limit, it would have been good to have a more experienced announcer.

A friend of mine who I work with is ridiculously passionate about baseball but he's 58 years old and damn near 400 lbs so he doesn't belong standing in the batters box with a bat on his shoulder. That's why he coaches little league and he's great at it. Passion is good but it doesn't equate to skills. I'm sure some people like him but most don't. He'd probably be a lot better if he wasn't so full of himself and just acted normal but his ego just keeps growing for some reason.

I think the biggest thing is it's always the same things said and always the same people saying it. So while it shows up on social media, it;s not really showing up in droves. It;s the same handful of blowhards each week who have nothing better to do then complain about Earl.

I've said it once and I'll say it again, but only when streaming became prevalant, did people really start to care about the announcer. If you are sitting in the stands at a track and you can truly tell me what the announcer is saying lap by lap as cars are racing around at full speed you have super hearing and frankly your'e not paying attention to what's on track.

I get people have a certain taste. I enjoy a cold Rolling Rock over a Miller Lite or a Yuengling at the track. That doesnlt mean the other suck. They're just not for me. And that's ok. But he does his job, does it pretty well, gets info out and at the end of the day....he gets people talking. That's a win anywhere.

just to clarify for me it is when I'm sitting in the "stands" in my reserved seats at the premier track in PA is when the constant drivel are you ready never any down time between' describing anything going on besides  the races is what bothers annoys "me" not trying to convince others to have same opionion.  Flo i can mute if i so choose.

not sure what pertinent info Earl gives out between the races especially when the ASCoC where there as he had to be heard more than Blake.

my favorite time at the track last year was the world of outlaws as earl was not permitted to be the show.

My opinion is he gets carried away and for me it takes away from the show - let the pit man MC opening cermonies from victory lane so he is ready in the both to start the program.....not going to happen because imho Earl loves to be the show.

I was pleasantly surprised at his first attempts in the big booth.  Very knowledgeable & easy to listen to.  Was a nice departure from the nasal noises of another announcer.  Always liked his pit reporting and stats.
