I thought this was pretty funny.  I was on hold with Knoxville Raceway today, and I was on hold with Iowa Speedway yesterday.  While on hold with Iowa Speedway, they were playing highlights of Nascar races last year.  Every single highlight, except for one, was a highlight of a wreck.  And the one highlight that wasn't directly about a wreck, ended in a wreck.  Today, I'm on hold with Knoxville and the only highlights playing are racing highlights.  I just thought it was humorous on what the selling points were.

Why was I calling Iowa Speedway in Newton?  I am putting a seasonal at Knoxville this year.  I thought it was great that Iowa Speedway and Knoxville had aligned their Nascar and WoO races so I thought, since I"m already gonna be out there, I'll get tickets for both events!  I called Iowa Speedway back in Oct. and got all of the details, and then got online to "reserve" my spot in line with 6 tickets for their "pre-sale."  Long story short, the pre-sale ended last night.  I didn't get my 6 tickets and they got my deposit.  Sold out during a pre-sale.  How is that a pre-sale?  I'm so lost.  Immediately, I thought of Jerry Seinfeld picking up his rental car he made a reservation for.  When he got there, there were no cars available.  If you haven't seen it, look it up!   Hilarious.

Anyways, I'll just hit the Dingus and Peacetree Brewing on Saturday afternoon and they can race 20 miles north of me.  I tried.

****I should clarify----race wasn't sold out, but for my group of 6, there was nothing.   Only groups of 2 seats available and down by the fence****

Well you have the tickets that matter. Bummer you didn't get the NASCAR tickets as it would have been fun too but heck I'm sure there will be watch parties in Knoxville. Pre sale sales? Is that a thing?

"See you know how to take the reservation but you just don't know how to hold the reservation." Seinfeld is good stuff.

Personally I hate watching wrecks. In my kiddo years ya they were cool but now when you've seen your fair share not end well for a driver you hold your breath each time one goes over. Not to mention to feel awful when a lower budget team tesrs one up or drops a motor. That's not a great feeling either.

I've never really participated in "pre-sales" but as soon as they told me I didn't have anything really "reserved", I immediately thought of the exact line you quoted!  Smile

Any track can "take" a pre-sale reservation, but "holding" the reservation is kind of the key with a reservation. LOL

I also placed a deposit, and purchased the first day it was open. You had to jump on it!

Yes---this is what was ridiculous about it.  I'm not sure what the point of the pre-sale was if during the pre-sale, they would sell out all tickets...................................

I would have jumped on ASAP but when I called the track back in October, they told me to simply watch the website for an update on when the pre-sale would start.  Unfortunately, the website never said when the pre-sale would start, and I was checking it every 2 or 3 days!  They sent out repeated emails which ended up in my junk email file.  So, I did not find out until the last day of the pre-sale at which point, they didn't actually reserve my 6 seats as I had paid the deposit for.

Very frustrating to say the least.
