There seems to be more rumors than normal about this being the last year for Devil's Bowl.   If this is truely thier last year, I would like to make a special trip to make one more show.

Does anyone have a feel if this year's rumors are different than the rumors of the past other than there seems to be a lot more of them?

Went to the show earlier this year. Going north from I-20 there is some large housing subdivisions being built up along Lawson Rd moving closer to the track so I'd assume there will be friction soon. If not this year, maybe next.

The WoO scheduled a show there for late in the year, and I've heard that's it.

Yes, and it particularly sucks for sprint car racing in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.   As far as I know the Bowl was the only one running sprints weekly, even if it was just 305s.    I also wonder if the WoO will continue to stop by the DFW area.   There's TMS dirt track, and that's obviously a great facility with plenty of seating capacity for it.   How Charlotte and Las Vegas have WoO races but they stopped going to TMS I'm not really sure.   Seems like all those tracks were owned by the same people?

Vegas hasn't had one in years though, right? 2019 I think is the last year they were there, haven't been back since. Racing never really was that good, I'd rather see them at TMS.

Seems like I remember people saying the surface at Las Vegas was pretty bad.   I hope they go to TMS too.

TMS has an awesome dirt track that rarely gets used, I've always wondered why.  Boyd has a nice dirt track too

Terrible when I went, and was freezing my ass off at the track. Out in the middle of of the desert, super windy. Probably 40 degrees by the time the feature rolled.

Man if this is true that is sad.  We have lost so many great race tracks over the years.  I understand to some degree that there is progression or evoloution or development or whatever you want to call it but it doens't make it sting less as a race fan.  #imissmanzy

It's not the noise complainers that get race tracks shut down. Most cities have reasonable noise ordinances that a track can operate under. What closes race tracks is typically the land becomes valuable enough that the current owner decides to sell to a developer. And that happens when the owner gets too old to run it and passes it down to their kids who may not have a passion for running a race track. Same thing happens in any business. Fairgrounds tracks are at the mercy of who happens to be on the fairboard. Sad to see Devil's bowl go, another legendary half mile to join the list.
