In looking at the Twitter feed, it looks like 7 flat tires towards the later laps of the feature? Since they're all on about the same tires(?), what kept the other 17 from having flats?

I think it was more than that. Towards the end of it, it looked like a parking lot in the infield with guys with blown right rears.

That track looked like they were running on hard-packed sand.

10 cars finished and two of them had flats, so it was certainly more than 7

Shows how the wise old fox, Tony stewart, guessed better than the kids with the heavy right foots did. He mentioned in the winner's circle he was driving it in the corners a lot straighter than the guys in front of him. I want to know why they were not given 2 laps to change a tire ?  They didn't even get a push truck lined up behind these guys. Then at the end, green checkered and no green, white, finish. Odd !

Rules state, past halfway NO guaranteed time in the pits.  Outlaws have the same rule.

When I watched the video this morning, I thought they were racing at the Slow Palace/Port Royal.  Hard, slick and slow!!

i'll be curious to see if they keep the tire rule if it happens again.  i get the cost cutting idea and it may actually prepare the younger guys better for other forms of racing down the road.  i'm not sure how many of them want to follow tony stewart's foot steps though.

Tire rule has nothing to do with a poorly prepared racetrack that has noticable rubber within the first 5 laps of the feature.

So Tony was driving straighter in the corners than the guys in front of him but was going just as fast? Maybe Tony could give lessons about driving with your brain and both of your feet.

He was not going just as fast. He was quite a bit slower than the leaders but because of the awful track conditions, he won.

Track prep was a crap shoot. Track had not been raced on for over a year, some of you keyboard warriors could have done better?

I thought it was a good race.

Maybe I've taken your post out of context, but I can't think of many young racers that wouldn't want to follow Tony's foot steps. Propbably one of the better drivers in this world when he was in his prime.

I thought it was very entertaining.   Nice field of cars.   I would not want to see that play out every race but definitely was change of pace and fascinating to see Stewart out smart everyone.  His interview was great.   Once I saw the trend of tires going flat it was just a waiting game on who was next.  Surprised Peck didn't try to nurse it home a bit more which I know is easy for me to say sitting at my computer.  Definitely a great learning experience for the younger drivers.    Loved the comment where Stewart said he spoke to Deitrich under one of the yellow flags and asked how is tire looked.  Deitrich's was gone but Deitrich told him his looked OK.   FloRacing is really awesome!  We now have opportunity to watch and look forward to watching races at different locations I would have to wait for highlights the next day.  Their additional content is also great. Love the short films!  All Stars have also come a long way.   Great time to be a sprint car fan!

Nice field of good cars. The tortise and the hare type race and to see well over half the field go out with RR tire failure but who doesnt like a last corner lead change. 30 laps plus some yellows was just to much for that particular surface.$12K to win and $1500 to start is one of the better AllStar purses and on a Thusday night without a lot of fans tough to show a profit unless PPV is enough.

Who thinks we should go back to having multiple tire companys to choose from? Hoosier is getting like Nascar with Goodyears. Need competition to build a better tire.

Races like this seem to happen once every couple of years it seems. Doesn't matter what the series is, tire manufacturer, track, etc. Even throughout each racing year I see random photos posted online showing driver's right rears looking like a drag racing slick versus a sprint car tire. Considering the amount of races across however many race tracks each weekend and each year I am actually surprised it does not happen more often. In the grand scheme of things it actually is not a common occurance but when it does happen the finger pointing starts happening on social media blaming someone (series, track, drivers, tire, water truck guy, town drunk). It's unfortunate and it would really suck if you purchased a ticket and this happened.

Remember Charlotte a couple years ago which was completely riduculous. I remember Sharon Speedway having a similar situation around 2012 I think when all but 2-3 drivers had to change tires and that was when Good Year was the tire company. I think the only thing that can be done is having some sort of contingency plan if it is obvious that a situation like this could happen but then you are at the mercy of human judgement which is not the best and even then someone is going to not be happy.

i'd like to think they would...but i know there are quite a few weekend warrior types or people who would probably be happy sticking to sprint cars.  they have the mindset of going all out every lap and might get upset with the idea of taking care of stuff through the course of the night.

that's why i didn't have a problem with the race.  probably the 2 most experienced drivers finished 1st and 2nd.  everyone else hopefully learned something...other than you need to complain more about track prep.  i would imagine stewart and madsen picked up early on what was going on and raced accordingly.

Agree 100% on the multiple tire companys.  Also think they should put the dish back into the top wings.

Why on the dish?
