Whats the worst youve seen?  Still think Wimmer taking out Kemenah at Knoxville was the worst Ive seen

2 come to mind:

- Dollansky taking out Kahne at Williams Grove in turn 4 (Kahne out of the ballpark)

- Jack Hewitt taking out Leland McSpadden at Eldora years ago in non-wing sprint cars

Terry McCarl took Joey Saldana out on the Last lap in turn four at Tulare a few years back, and got boo'd in victory lane. It was a cheap shot slide job.

Wimmer and Dollansky were both bad slide jobs. 

Wimmer's was bad but the one that Dieterich did to Monteith was about as bad as it gets.  Not even sure it could even be considered a slider though.  

That would be my answer too. I've seen some bad ones but that one, I knew when Dietrich went into turn 3 that he was gonna punt Montieth. That one was real bad.

Krietz taking out Todd Shaffer at Williams Grove and then bragging about.

I think I remember that one. Mitch Smith memorial at the grove? Shaffer started deep in the field and was leading with a  full straightaway lead and few laps to go when a yellow came out. Green dropped, and Krietz drove across the bottom of 3/4 and crashed him with a slider that wasn't even close. That one is right up there.

I was thinking about that one too, and that's from pretty recent years.   I was also thinking Sammy taking out Dave Bradway back in the eighties at Ascot.    Also not a slider though.  

I'll give you guys another thing to think about here.   How many championships and races has Donny Schatz won over the years?   And how many times have you ever seen him do anything like this?   Think about that one for awhile and it'll make you realize how amazing the guy is...

He didn't need to back then. Having the right crew chief makes a big difference.

Things seem to be more equal now. Several other drivers are just as good as Shatz. We're seeing that now.

Jay Drake on Todd Kane at Eldora comes to mind. 

Paul Pitzer dumping one of the May boys - not sure if it was Van or Dub - on the mile at Syracuse years ago.

Pitzer wasn't called Capn Crunch for nothing.

Most WOO mains pay $10K average and usually but not always a multiple flip can cost $5K and a true crash can start at $10K and multiply. Bodily injury which is somewhat rare is not about money. I love close racing but these arent stock cars.

That's the first one that lept to my mind. CK was in a transfer spot too if I recall.

I think it was the C, but both of them were in transfer spots if I remember correctly

Thing is Schatz still doesn't throw sh*tty sliders.  Several drivers are just as good as Schatz but I'd be just as surprised if I woke up tomo morning with my head sewn to the floor as I would to see the 15 throw a bad one. Case in point...at Knoxville a couple weeks ago he ran the alphabet up to where he did in the A, passing a plethora of cars, and didn't touch a one. 

Not sure on the dirtiest one I've seen....but Reutzel has sure tagged a lot of cars the last couple years. 

      Maybe not the worst one, but the scariest one I've ever seen: In the late 70's, Black Hills Speedway in Rapid City S.D. used to attract a lot of the hotshoes from the Sioux Falls area for Friday night races on the half mile track. Back then, it was an all day affair to cover the 360 mile trip one way at the then current 55 mph speed limit. The cars were just sprint cars, no wings, no 410,360,305 deliniation. They were sprint cars, not too many years evolved from modifieds with fiberglass bodies.

     In the feature race Daryl Dawley, a Sioux Falls ace dove under Jack Comer, a Rapid City legend going into turn one. Something went wrong. As soon as Dawley cleared Comer, he went full sideways and Comer t-boned him. Then all hell broke loose. My brother in law in the pits said that Comer went end over end, Dawley snap-rolled side to side. I didn't see that, as their flipping raised a big dust cloud that obscured most of what was going on. What I, and everyone elde in the stands did see, was Comer's tail tank flipping end over end above the dust cloud, as it had come loose in the crash. From the stands, it looked like the form of a driver's body in the fetal position. We all thought we had just seen a fatal accident. It took a few seconds for the dust to clear for everyone, including Jim Shaw the announcer, to realize that the drivers were OK. Dawley packed up and hit the road. They would have gotten home about at sunrise.

Yeah I remember that one too. Kreitz didn't brag, he just said he wouldn't have tried that move if it wasn't for 10G. Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy than Shaffer though. I saw him take out Troy Camp to win a heat race at Port Royal back in the 90's.
