Just bought my first RV travel trailer and I plan on taking to the races this season for events like Ohio Speedweek.

Newbie question: for those who do this, does the dust/dirt clog your rooftop A/Cs, vents, or side vents for the fridge, water heater, etc.

Any other tips? Thanks!

I've never experienced an issue, even parking in some less than desirable places, from a dust perspective. I made sure that I changed, washed or replaced any filters on the recommended timelines.

Never had an issue. Make sure you get a big enough inverter generator so it's quiet while using it at night at the race track. We traded in our 2018 Outback 293UBH, for a new Outback 300ML. I got to get a second generator now... Looking forward to the Kings Royal and Ohio speedweeks too this year. Are you in Ohio?

I've never had issues with dust clogging anything on my camper. As far as a generator, my old one was a Champion 3500 that ran the ac as long as the refrigerator and water heater were on gas. I switched to a Yamaha 3000 because it's super quiet and uses half the gas of the Champion.

Have never had an issue in 20+ years!!!

Tips?  Have good health insurance?  You will need surgery to remove the smile from your face after the races when you get to leisurely walk to your camper, pull out the cooler and lawn chair, and sit and have a beer while everyone else fights for 2 hours to get out of the lot and has to drive home!!!!!  Smile

I've been camping weekly at the races for 20+ years with no issues. Bite the bullet and buy 2) 2200 Honda generators and a 5 gallon extended run gas tank. You'll only need to run both generators when you use the a/c. One is fine for everything else. The extended run gas tak lets you run all weekend without having to add gas.

I bought a set of generators from etrailer for 1079 with parallel kit... But the HF 3500 watt generator is really good and quiet. For a 13.5 AC unit, you need around 2500 watts to start it and 1600 to 1800 to run. That Gen from HF would be good for your camper.

EDIT: I'd get a 3200 watt one from etrailer. It's only $651, free shipping

I bought a Wen invertor generator.  It is between a LOUD Champion and a quiet Honda.  Actually quieter than I thought it woukd be.  It has 3100 surge and 2800 rated watts so it would work on your setup.  You would have to experiment on what else can be used with it.  I paid $555 brand new from Amazon and was delivered in 2 days.  It is model #56310i  Check it out and welcome to the camping ranks.  I camped at Wilmot every Saturday except for 3 and one I was at Beaver Dam for the Outlaws, Angell Park for the IRA and Plymouth WI for the All Stars.  It is a blast.  Have fun
