Hi - I don't think this joint gets the traffic that it used to... I remember, he was a little salty but you and your family certainly have my sympathies.

I am more than willing to raise a busch latte in respect... hoping that he has found some peace and that you can find some memories to smile about for the holidays.

Cheers & Merry Christmas!

I am sorry I didn't post sooner and I intended to from the beginning but getting x-mas cards on their way delayed me. I think I said when you first announced this news that I was sorry to hear it. Your brother is one of the many people I envisioned having a beer and conversation with if the day comes that I get to do that long delayed race road trip. I still regret that it will never happen and am still saddened by it.

I was saddened when I heard the news 6 months ago.  We are all "experts" on this forum and therefore we are going to have differing opinions-----from one end of the spectrum to the other.  I recalled some "spirited" interactions with your brother, and maybe some things were said that were less than cordial--from both sides.  However, had I ever met him in person, I would have been happy to sit and have a beer with him.  That goes for anyone on this forum---we don't all have to have the same opinion to share a love of the same sport.

Absolutely. I really think pretty much everyone here is good people. We can all be assholes but at the same time, if we all got together around a campfire at a race sometime, I can't imagine it being anything othet than one hell of a good time. I remember strangewings and I remember he ruffled some feathers but he's part of the family and my heart goes out to the people close to him who had to deal with his loss. May he rest in peace.

I tipped a few back to him last night, perhaps even a few too many. Rest assured he is not forgotten. You and your family are in my thoughts especially at this time of year. I never met him but he was one of us, a diehard sprint car fan and that made him family.

Cheers!

Thank you guys! Him and I had heated disagreements, so I completely understand, and we even saw eye to eye on alot of things. I miss him daily, and even though we lived 550 miles apart(I live in Columbus Ohio now, he was in Oshkosh Wisconsin), when we talked or when we were able to be together its like we never skipped a beat!

I hope that even my worst enemy doesn't experience the pain that suicide causes a family. We have lost to many great drivers this year too(although losing anyone sucks), looking forward to 2018 being over. God bless you all, and Merry Christmas to everyone!

Sorry, but I am still here posting and am not going anywhere...

Sorry for your lost. I don't think I had too many conversations with strangewings but do remember seeing him on here. Dealing with suicide is terrible, have a couple friends lose loved ones because of it and the pain/confusion they deal with horrible. Saw one of my friends with her sister celebrating what would have been their brother's 30th birthday but he unfortunately took his own life  8 years ago. That's why I always try to give the benefit of the doubt to most people because you never know what someone is dealing with. Anxiety, depression, sadness are no joke and their is no shame in talking about it. Some people consider it being a wuss but to me I would call it being courageous and tough talking about it.

Small world too, have lived in Columbus Ohio my whole life. Always thought you lived around the Minn or Wisc area being a Dollansky fan. What part of town do you live in?

I actually live in Grove City, but if I tell people that you get the "where is that?" So I just say Columbus. I go to Eldora, and Williams Grove regularly now, along with the occasional race at Atomic, Wayne County, Lima, and Lawrenceburg. Gonna try and go to Port Royal this next year??

I grew up in Wisconsin, and became a Dollamsky fan in 99 when he ran out of money and dropped off the WoO circuit and ran IRA. My favorite shootout ever was the "Badger State Shootout between Dollansky, Whitney and Goeden. Was an epic battle between 3 drivers for a $5000 bonus for 3 races.(just remembered that series of races so I shared it)

I am sorry about your brother. I have experienced the pain of suicide in my immediate family. My father took his own life when I was just 7. You are just left with unawswerable questions and the pain never leaves you for long. My sympathies my friend.

I live in Huber Heights. If you ever need someone to tag along with you, let me know. My brother lives in Carlisle PA (about 15 min from Williams Grove), but I don't get back there as much as I wish I could. I hit mostly Atomic and Waynesfield. I wnat to get to Wayne County this year.

Even smaller world, live in Grove City as well off of 665 by Scioto Downs. I know about telling people the actual city you live in and just saying Columbus instead because of the follow up question. I usually go to Eldora, Attica, and Wayne County most of all with my son. Will usually hit the All Star races at Atomic and Lima as well and will try to go to Lawernceburg this year for the USAC shows. Make a yearly trip to Knoxville now too.

As someone who has caused a little 'trouble' or 'fun' depending on your view I can relate to your brother.  I liked when he spoke up but I think a lot of it was against the IRA and I think Steve Sinclair is a wonderful human being, mixed feelings for sure.  That word which I can't say or even type is nasty and to be honest with the health issues I have had and currectly have it has crossed my path far too often recently.  Soldier on my friend, you have lots of friends in the racing world and there is no better friend to have, trust me!

I wish you well, especially at this time of the year, be strong and carry on like the racefan you'e always been....Mike

I live off Hardy Parkway in case you are curious... Maybe sometime in the future we could meet at a race or.something?

Jeff's birthday is in 2 days(not looking forward to it), it sucks bad knowing he is not with is anymore.

I remember back that he would irritate alot of people here frequently, he was opinionated but when it came down to it, he actually was a good guy! God bless you Jeff, may you rest in peace now, without all your pain.

I know where Hardy Parkway is, looked at houses there about 5years ago when my wife an I were looking to buy our next house. Just let me know the next one your are going to and I'll see about my schedule. Currently I may try to make the USAC show at Lawrenceburg in Late March or the first All Star race at Attica as my first races.

First year after rough after any loss. Every type of calendar event is a reminder unfortunately. Just try your best to celebrate him and go to as many races as possible since it will bring back more positive memories about him.

StrangeWings will forever be known as Dick Danger by me, classic handle. He and I used to shoot our mouths off quite a bit, first on the IRA board (I think we were two of the reasons they shut that down) and then on here.

My dad and I saw Jeff and his son quite a bit from '99-06 when we were heavily following the IRA and hitting any other WI / MN track that had dirt. We would be having a few barley pops while grilling and they would be throwing a football. I actually finally got to sit down with Jeff and have a beer at his favorite bar in Oshkosh several years ago.

Must have been something in WI water, we moved to OH in '06 and now call Columbus, OH home too.

While I don't get to as many races as I used to, his sarcasm and wit will be missed by me and several others, even if they won't admit it.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, thinkin I'll head up to WI this summer, hit a weekend of racin' and post a burner on here for Dick Danger wink.

The truth hurts, that's why I use it.

You must of met him at Players pub in Oshkosh then??  He was a piece of work!

I remember quite a few years back, he formed a new username for the IRA boards, and Steve Sinclair had I think the name IRASPRINTS, Jeff made his 1RASPRINTS, or something like that, and said there was gonna be free hot dogs, brats, and soda/beer in the pits after the race, can't remember if it was a Dodge or Beaver Dam race though? Of course the username got removed in a HURRY, but there was alot of pissed people after that race not getting their free stuff. Of course we went to the race, and laughed about it all race long and for many years after that!

Where in the Columbus area are you? All of us Wisconsinites in Columbus, hope you still fly your Packers and Bagders stuff proudly here!!??
