Josh Schneiderman – Season Wrap-Up

Des Moines, IA (October 13, 2018) – Josh Schneiderman and the Deuce Motorsports team closed out their season two weeks ago at the Sprint Invaders “Fall Haul” at 34 Raceway with a top five on night one, before a rough outing on the final night. As Josh settles into the offseason, he took a bit of time to look back at his final two nights on the track and how the season went.

The Friday night show of the “Fall Haul” got off to a great start for Josh in the World of Wheels #49, moving from 4th to the win in his heat, before running second in the dash. Starting on the outside of the front row for the night’s A-main, Josh felt he held back early. “We were too complacent at the beginning of the feature on Friday,” said Josh. “We fell back a couple of spots early and the track was pretty fast and narrow, so it was hard to battle back.”

Though he lost ground early, the car came to him as the race wore on and Josh started gaining back on the leaders. “The car really improved as the laps ticked by and I was gaining on the #50 car [Terry McCarl in Scott Bonar’s car],” said Schneiderman. “We were getting close to making it a race for the podium, but I made a mistake and that allowed Seth [Bergman] to get by and leave us with a 5th.”

Night two, which was postponed from Saturday to Sunday due to weather, got off to a rough start from the moment Josh drew his starting spot. “We drew terribly on Sunday and had to start at the back of the heat,” said Schneiderman. “The track was a bit locked down, which was largely due to the weather, and it was hard to pass in the heats.”

Starting mid-pack in the A-main, there wasn’t much “The Professor” could do to move the Universal Therapy Group #49 forward, and he would settle for 13th. “It wasn’t a great run for us on Sunday night, but I’m just happy that 34 did all they did to race,” said Josh. “They put a lot of work in just to put the show on for the drivers and fans and we really appreciate that.”

Now that the season has come to an end for the Deuce Motorsports crew, Schneiderman shared some insights on a season that saw the team finish 7th in 410 points at the Knoxville Raceway. “It was definitely a season of peaks and valleys for us,” said Josh. “It was a lot of fun making the trip out to Ohio to race at the Brad Doty Classic and the King’s Royal, but when we came back to Iowa we fell into a lull for a while.”

“There was a while there where we just couldn’t figure it out, but finally found some good speed for the Nationals,” said Josh. Making the A-main on their prelim night, before ending the Saturday night finale with a B-main finish, the 58th Annual Knoxville Nationals were a strong showing for the Deuce team.

Josh and the team feel proud about their performances late in the nights of competition, though had a hard time overcoming their yearlong struggles with qualifying. “We really raced well every night we were at the track, as we went forward in the A almost every Saturday night at Knoxville,” said Josh. “On the other hand, qualifying was tough for us this season; no matter where you’re racing and what series it is, if you can’t qualify well it’s going to be tough to make up for it.”

As Schneiderman looks forward to having weekends at home with his wife Brittany and son Bryar, he’s thankful for all the support from his team and sponsors. “I have to thank my crew guys: Dewey and Deet, my wife for everything she does, and all of our sponsors that help us do what we love,” said Josh.
