Decided to check out Selinsgrove again for the Whitcomb race racing was ok but another winner from the front row glad to see they changed the way they did time trials. First heat race at 8-15 got to find a way to start on time.

Surprised no Mark Smith and saw on twitter Troy Betts was on his way but never made it.

They announced a 3 day weekend for the 360s at the end of August to bad they cant work things out with URC.

HOPEFULLY NEXT YEAR THEY CAN BOOK THE ASCS for a two day show along with the Grove and make that the National Open..

Mark Smith did run a few races in Texas & Oklahoma for the ASCS Speedweek, alhough he did flip one night so maybe that is why he was not at Selinsgrove last night.

Great show in my opinion! and another good crowd .Car counts were good considering the cost to race and in comparison to other tracks car counts. No complaints! Not sure about the 8:15 start as the time is not an issue for me. Do you mean racing started at 8:15 or time trials? As much as I hate time trials, they are part of the program and aren't run earlier.

Ditto....show started on time Time Trials slow shows down - especially now that Selinsgrove has the absolute best view of the racing with the pits outside.

Temps in the 80's and Sunny all day with little to no dust with a manageable curb that kept moving up all night.  Great job track prep crew!

Selinsgrove, like Steve Post said  on Wing Nation two weeks ago after his visit is committed to getting better and is putting on some great racing.

33 - 360 and 24- late models. With two other divisions and show was over by 11:05 with at least 3 red flags on the evening and time trials i say good effort.....

Patriot tour needs to stop this 8 minute red flag thing after the yellow comes back out.  Nothing a track can do about losing 20-25 minutes on a first lap multi-car pile up that thank GOD could have been a lot worse since the accident was coming out of two as a result of a flipping car.  Sometimes there just are more wrecked cars than wreckers.

Selinsgrove speedway has made a huge commitment to improving and IMHO the experience there is EXPONENTALLY BETTER KUDOS!

Centrtal Pa fans sometimes make me scratch my head.....Last year at the world finals I had to vacum the the dust off my clothes first otherwise my washing machine would have been clogged with clay....two years prior to that rough...and all people say about Charlotte is oh my it was wonderful (which i agree cuz we were at the races.)

Port or Selinsgrove have some dust or slick off 1 night heaven forbid the place sucks and close it down.

Sprint feature was good from 2nd on back but the LM's had the best racing of the night IMO, just too bad Frye had mechanical issues. I was glad to see Layton back in VL, been a long time. Good turnout from the Patriot sprints, hated to see the Cobra take that flip. He may have been a factor in the feature.

Saw Smith was at Baps last night guess he wasnt ready for Selinsgrove.

Racing was good but the first heat for the PRO Stocks which was a complete waste of time with 9 cars and only three competetive got the green at 8-15 I looked at my phone to see the time racing was scheduled to start at 7-30.

Some tracks take the cars straight to the infield after warmups which saves time when you have alot of cars to move back in .

Stii all in all I would say it was a good show.

The M1of Mark Smith was still returning from Texas/Oklahoma ASCS Speedweeks on Saturday.

Yeah - my one gripe about Selinsgrove is the running of the prostock feature first all the time.  great point about a heat race for 9 prostocks.

Good idea about time trials one the fans may appreciate - although not so certain the sprint car teams would like that idea puts a real burden on the teams as many:

  1. bolt new rubber on for time trials.

  2. often change gears after being on the track for warm-ups.

  3. not saying it is impossible but teams should be told long before they arrive at the track that is the way they are going to proceed....it allows teams to properly prepare for changes away from their haulers.  I say they should announce this how all time trial shows will be done and keep the procedure up on their web-site.

  4. I believe you are about spot on regarding heats starting at 8:15 - which makes the running of the show from that point on pretty darn good considering 4 sprint car heats and a consolation, 3 Super Late Model heats, the aforementioned Prostock heat and 2 roadrunner heats...and not to mention 3 red flags.

  5. the Late Model racing was terrific all night two fast grooves made for some excellent racing.

  6. The sprint car heats were real good too...especially the the 3rd and 4th heats with Franek and Hebing winning.
