Straight from the link you pasted above:

Next year’s purse will be in excess of $200,000.
Overall Champion will receive $25,000. Just to start the “A” Main will pay $5,000.

Reading - its hard sometimes. This year is still $2K to start with the jump to $5K happening next year. This event is truly one of the coolest sprint car events in the nation. Hope to be back in '18.

BIG J

Well based on 2017 Thursday night show,  teams will need to bring three cars, one for each night.  Their wadding up cars faster than you can build them and track is rough as hell with everyone trying to win race in first turn.  Not a good first night!  drivers be patient, track needs work and car owners bring your Visa.

To clarify, this year if a Saturday A main driver finishes last in the race and also last in the point fund, they will still receive $2050 for Saturday.  So this year is $2050 guaranteed to start the Saturday main, that is the worst case scenario.  Added to that figure will be payout for Thursday and Friday.

Next year is different.  Racing the A main on Saturday will earn each driver $5000  minimum for the three days combined.  It is sort of $5000 to start, but the $5000 is not earned in just the A main as the Thursday and Friday money is included in that.

I do not have last year's numbers with me, but around 10 drivers probably earned at least $5000 for 2016.  In 2018 there will be 24 drivers receiving $5000.

maybe with the increased purse, they can draw a few more cars  wink

I know some fans don't like the crashes or incidents, but its a big boys track and race, no one makes someone to race.  I bet on average, Eldora would tear more stuff up if they had 90 360's and with increased speed, more damage to cars and drivers.

I know most drivers, love to race at eldora, and the packed stands attest to the fans interest, but like everything in life, u can not please everyone.  With that said, I think Tulare has tried to make the track better for the teams (equipment), invested $$$ in fence and I hear sound.  Like I've said the last 12 years, I look forward to this race more than any other, albiet I haven't been to Chilli Bowl.

cheers and can not wait till Saturdays' A main

Right!!  Big boys track it is because sooner or later the fast way around Tulare up to the wall.  Bud and Gio found the wall in the same spot in turn 2 in the main..nobody is immune to its lack of forgiveness.  Heats had none of that, but it was not a top groove track yet.  That being said, last night's top 3 mostly stayed away from the wall.

What Steve Faria does for Thunderbowl Raceway is huge.  New walls debuted at last year's Cup, new frontstretch fencing, reshaped track to get back to multi-groove racing, and 110% support of the Trophy Cup.  Before next season expect all new lighting, making the track one of the best lit around.

I too think this event has become too much of a crash fest. I watch, but in my opinion the track is a rough turd with a wall of mud to call a cushion.!

That track does! Drivers don't bounce sprint cars like a basketball, rough traks do. I was kind earlier when I said the track was like a rough turd....that track is a piece of shit! They ought to take the tons of dirt banked up against the walls in all four corners and spread it back out on to the track and create a smooth racing surface.

It was a crash fest when I went a few years ago, they were even wrecking in hot laps.  Too bad, I was hoping track improvements would change things, I love the idea of full inversion in the Final

Track looks too narrow to race on.

I hope Thunderbowl never gets dry-slick, dusty, rubber downed. Oh, thats right, its a california bull-ring. And those are always heavy, rough and, ELBOWS UP. Just sayin.

  From central coast of Cali.
   Peace, Out.
