I have a hard time seeing the UMSS bringing more than 5 cars to this event

Though there was no farewell announcement people are telling me that one former UMSS champion has hung it up after 30+ years. I'm questioning Headwall being on this list as well. He has been running their non wing division with limited motors running carb instead of injection. He had an old wing he'd slap on at the local and tracks when both divisions were on the card. He'd run both, do a few laps with the wing, pull in and leave with a bigger check. Hardly worth closing his shop early and hauling an uncompetitive car 250 miles. I don't think you'll see him either. IRA is at Cedar Lake and some of the UMSS guys have never run a half mile so I doubt all will be there. Leigh Thomas used to run Fargo but he hasn't been out and don't know if he's still racing. There are back stories behind every list of names so we can't assume anything.

Bradwell. Spell correct in the men's room stall at work where proof reading is not as important as making sure I wiped good.

Chase Viebrock posted on his Facebook page that they don't want to run the big half mile and risk hurting their only 360 motor. That's three you can scratch off the UMSS list. I would imagine that Chris Graf will be there as he has run Jackson many times. I'm 32 miles from Cedar Lake where the IRA is running there on Saturday but am not going to any races. I helped out the UMSS during their first couple of seasons so am still somewhat in touch with what's going on with the series and have a soft spot for them.
From the looks of the results from the first race they're going to have a tough year filling the fields at some of their local shows. 11 cars showed up for their opener two weeks ago. Nygaard won and he won't be running with them. Brandon Geldner and Victoria Knutson were there but they have been running Arlington so not sure if they'll be with them on a regular basis. I see that Bradwell ran his own Traditional car in the non-wing portion and the #77 that normally runs Arlington IMCA in the winged race so not sure if that was a one off deal. That 11 could easily have been 7 so that is a matter of concern as they were hitting 30 for some of their bigger shows the first couple of years. I'm just going by the seat of my pants based on past experience so this is by no means the final word on their car counts.
These days I'm just a fan following along on Facebook, Twitter and watching Youtube clips of race hilights. My opinions and guestimates are nothing more than my opinions and guestimates but they do have a few years of hands on experience to draw from.

#24 & #51 on the list should be pretty equal as far as lap times.

Good luck withe the 50 fantasy.
What is the story with the Marty Johnson #81? Raced at Knoxville for a long, long time now doesn't want to race there?

You gotta dream. Even if we take 5 UMSS guys, Dalton Johnson and the double Kevin Ingle it is still looking like 40 is very reachable. So a C Main instead of a D Main. Haven't seen that at the biggest of 1/2 miles in a while, and should be awesome.

Yea, i'm not going either. Hard enough to keep up on a 3/8 mile track with my lower hp and 7200 chip. Same reason i'm not going to knoxville to get run over when we go down there. If I went there I would throw in a knoxville spacer and run the 305 class but I don't think that is where the wife wants to spend the weekend before the 4th.

I am going to need another pair of inserts for my flat feet one of these days but I don't think that will be of much help getting a stout 360. If I were to venture a guess I think there will be a lot of people involved with UMSS watching IRA this weekend. I haven't been to Fairmont since I followed my cousin down there in 1971 and watched Haircut pickup a Supermodified win. I remember it. Wing a fast track but I think they cut down the banking since then.

Where did you come up with this list? I'm going to say 25-30 cars tops. Don't get me wrong, it should still be a good show but 50 360s???? Really???
