LESS THAN 4 WEEKS until the 3rd LoneStar SPRINT SMACKDOWN & Bumped-Up LONESTAR SPEEDWAY SEASON POINTS OPENER: SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 11th at 6PM!

Kilgore, TX (01/16/17) by DarinShort.com. The 70' wide expanses of LoneStar Speedway hosted several phenomenal racing events in 2016. Nightly there was side-by-side racing, drivers coming from the back to win, wild finishes - and the new season fires up in less than 4 weeks, Saturday night, February 11th at 6pm; when fans will be treated to a huge night of racing: the 3rd Annual SPRINT SMACKDOWN and bumped-up LONESTAR SPEEDWAY SEASON POINTS OPENER.

To get everyone's blood circulating, here's the first 15 non-stop laps of last year's Sprint Smackdown feature race, which was LOADED with wild action, including: the race leader smacking the backstretch wall while he was flat-footed around the track, 2nd place doing a snap-spin directly in front of entire field - and everyone cleared the fracas and the race stayed green - to a lead change, culminating with the original 2nd place driver working all the way back to 2nd only to get caught up with a lap car to bringing out the yellow: https://youtu.be/_KXemtbg_TM

So we're looking forward to another exciting Sprint Smackdown, here are complete details:

REMINDER: The open practice day (for any dirt track racing division) was recently moved from Sunday Feb 5, to Friday Feb 10 from 7-10pm (night before the race). This will allow race teams to shake down their new cars under race night conditions. All pit passes all ages will be $15 on Feb 10th. Grandstand viewing is free.

Racing action fires off Saturday February 11th at 6PM. (The sun goes down at 6:01pm, which will coincide perfectly.)

The Pit Gate will open by 3pm, while the main grandstand area will open by 4:30pm. The driver's draw cut-off for heat races is 5:15pm, with a driver's meeting set for 5:45pm. Hot laps will fire off at 6pm with racing to follow immediately.

Adult grandstand general admission (ages 12-64) to this massive event is just $15! Ages 6-11 are $5, while ages 65+ and military will be $12. All pit passes for all ages are $35.

A JUMBO-SIZED competitor purse is slated in all racing divisions, and the breakdown is as follows:

SPRINT CARS (note that we chose to add more purse in the middle of the field instead of putting it all on top, so it benefits more race teams): $1,200/win - $800 - $600 - $550 - $500 (5th) - $450 - $400 - $350 - $320 - $300 (10th) - $280 - $260 - $240 - $220 - $200 (to 24th...not 20th!).

All sprint car NQ's or Non-Starters will receive $100. Sprint Car heats will include passing points which will determine the feature lineups...straight up by points. Rules at www.RaceSaver.com and www.LoneStarSpeedway.com for track general rules.

And for all LoneStar Speedway divisions, rules are posted at http://www.lonestarspeedway.com/rules/ as 2017 rules are posted are now available. I would classify that response as the pot calling the kettle black.

If you want to get that techinal, Smackdown is an event on TV that started well beyond 6 years ago...1999 to be exact.

No different that the 100's of Nationals events out there. We all know where the first and original was at.

A winged RaceSaver event in TX has no bearing on a non-winged 410 race in IN. Both are solid events for fans and teams and completely unrelated.

The inaugural version of this race was a real cat-and-mouse affair, with Logan Scherb slowly and methodically reeling in race-long leader Chad Wilson.

In this 20 lap non-stop video segment, the heat turns all the way up to broil when the leaders take the 2-to-go signal while in heavy lap traffic...

...and as wild as the finish of the event was, Scherb would not make the RaceSaver minimum weight after crossing the scales. Quite the turn of events!
