October 10, 2016 (KNOXVILLE, IOWA) - Knoxville Raceway, Badlands Motor Speedway, and Jackson Motorplex are working together in regards to scheduling for the 2017 sprint car racing season. In an effort to enhance and continue building sprint car racing in the region, the three tracks have agreed to not compete against each other during high profile racing events in 2017.

These events include the 57th Annual Knoxville Nationals on August 9-12, the 27th Annual 360 Knoxville Nationals on August 3-5, the 39th Annual Jackson Nationals on June 1-3, and the second Annual Badlands Motor Speedway Rock N Roll Gold Cup on July 28-29,

MAJOR MULTIPLE-DAY SPRINT CAR EVENTS AFFECTED IN 2017:
June 1-3 - 39th Annual Jackson Nationals at Jackson Motorplex - NO 410 SPRINT CAR RACING AT BMS OR KNOXVILLE
July 28-29 - 2nd Annual Rock N Roll Gold Cup at BMS - NO 410 SPRINT CAR RACING AT JACKSON OR KNOXVILLE
August 3-5 - 27th Annual Knoxville 360 Nationals at Knoxville Raceway - NO SPRINT CAR RACING AT BMS OR JACKSON
August 9-12 - 57th Annual Knoxville Nationals at Knoxville Raceway - NO SPRINT CAR RACING AT BMS OR JACKSON

"With the 2017 sprint car season scheduling underway, we are excited to be a part of putting together a schedule that helps promote our special shows at Knoxville, as well as those at Badlands Motor Speedway and Jackson Motorplex. Our three tracks working together will benefit fans and teams alike," said Knoxville Raceway Race Director John McCoy. "I know Tod, Chuck and I share the same goal to continue to advance the popularity and growth of sprint car racing in this region by continued cooperation between the three tracks."

"With all three tracks sitting down and working through their 2017 schedules together and honoring each tracks large events is a huge step for the Midwest and Sprint Car Racing," said Tod Quiring of Jackson Motorplex. "This is going to give every fan and competitor the opportunity to attend all of the large events at Jackson Motorplex, Badlands Motor Speedway and Knoxville Raceway. I feel this is a great start to build on and I'm looking forward to all working together on future opportunities."

"It has been a giant step in the right direction to have all three of our legendary dirt track facilities at the same table to discuss ways to make the 2017 race season the best possible for race teams and race fans alike," said Badlands Motor Speedway founder Chuck Brennan. "Personally I am excited to not only visit both Jackson and Knoxville next year for their key races, but to host both Tod and John at BMS in 2017. I am a big fan and both these tracks do it up right!"

Kudos to working together toward growing sprint car racing and growing the big events in the area.  As a fan that's a good thing for Sprint Car Racing as a whole.

This stinks for the keyboard commandos (what will we complain about now?), but great news for the sport. I am really glad common sense won out so quickly.

Interesting to see Jackson move the Nationals to Jun 1-3. Total speculation, but does this mean it could include a WoO sanction in 2017?

I think the bigger sign here is that it means the NSL is not going to be around in 2017.  That is a real shame if this is true.

Simple, the same stuff that is always complained about on here.

Midwest versus Posse, front two row winners of WoO events even though a lot of tracks and sanctioning bodies have them, Weather we should invert or not invert, Why the Outlaws are the most evil money grubbing sanctioning body and why we don't need them (sarcasm, I feel that they are needed and dont mind paying for an outlaw ticket). Plus do not forget the multiple Tyler Walker threads tha will open up, and the I hate Sammy/Sammy rules threads that will happen.

There is silly season which is fun, and all of the  keyboard track preppers that will complain about some surface and a track's lack of attention to detail.

Basically the same classic threads that have always been here with an occasional Minthess response telling us America is doomed because we should all buy Ford products in order to save America.

Got to wonder what Knoxville will do those 2 nights there is no 410's there. ASCS National series? Late model event? Regular 360 & 305 show with no 410's and tickets $8?

Glad to see some cooperation between the tracks. Defiantly good for the race teams.

Obviously noone noticed Knoxville released their schedule for 2017 below the 2016. So to sum up:

Jun 3

Lucas Oil Knoxville Championship Cup Series 360's & 305's.

Jul 29 Weiler Night Lucas Oil KCCS ASCS National Tour 360's, 305's

The only thing that could be better is if Badlands went back to Sunday and there was a points system for drivers who run all three tracks and a bonus if a driver sweeps a weekend of racing.  I think there would be more drivers at all three tracks.

Just wanted to point out that the Knoxville Raceway schedule is very tentative, We did move practice night to the Friday before the Season Opener this year to save teams some travel for no pay. Sponsors are based on 2016 so those may change.

May be a typo. 360 nationals final should be on Aug 5, not Aug 7 no?

Actually  June 3 says TBD plus 360s and 305's. Sure hope they don't run taxi cabs that night!

There were a few typos on the schedule. Should be updated now.

Don't forget--the Cubs will also be World Series champs by month's end too!!  Smile

Seriously though, I just got the email on this and had to hit the forum to see the reactions.  I was also blown away and good for all three of them for this agreement.  With any luck, I will be visiting all three this summer!!!

BMS had the best 410 car counts in years, multiple 30 plus nights, why in the hell would they go back to Sunday!

This is great. Assuming this works out, Chuck and Tod working together in any capacity will be awesome for everyone involved. It's no secret that both of them are loaded and if they're able to do what we all know they can, it will be huge. So glad to see that cooler heads are prevailing. Props to Chuck for putting his ego aside and doing this and props to Tod for putting the past where it belongs and moving forward. Couldn't be happier for you folks out there. Now I just gotta get my ass out of Central PA one of these years and take a trip out there and experience some of what you guys have going on.

I predicted this the week after the Jackson nationals.  I Might still be wrong, but I doubt it. We shall see.
