The Huset’s Speedway Hall of Fame Committee is pleased to announce the 2016 Inductees into The Huset’s Speedway Hall of Fame. They include Jake Peters, Butch Hanssen, Ray Feltman Jr, Elmer “Pete the Welder” Peterson and Ray Bult. Peters, a Wagner, SD native and resident, was a three-time champion at Huset’s, in 1995 in the 360 class and 1997 and 2006 in the 410 class. He also won three consecutive 360 Sprint Car championships at Knoxville Raceway from 2004-2006. Peters amassed over 100 wins in a sprint car and nine wins in a stock car spanning 20 years at tracks in seven different states. Hanssen, of Sioux Falls, won championships at Huset’s in 1999 and 2003, at Hartford in 1988, 1999 and 2006 and Rock Rapids, IA in 1999, 2003 and 2004. All told, he amassed eight track championships and 69 career wins in between his 360 and 410 sprint car. Feltman Jr, of Sioux Falls, won the Huset's Street Stock championship in 1994 and the 1996 championship at both Huset's and Lake County Speedway in Madison, SD, along with the Modified class in 1997 at both Huset's and Rapid Speedway in Rock Rapids, IA. He compiled 21 wins in the Street Stock class, two in a Modified and one in a Limited Sprint at Huset's alone, to go along with numerous wins across the upper-Midwest. Peterson, of Sioux Falls, was a long time car builder and contributor at Huset’s Speedway, beginning in 1958. He was a fixture in the infield, helping drivers to repair their cars on race nights and built several race cars using innovative and unconventional designs. Bult of Sioux Falls, began his nine-year racing career in 1958 at the old Soo Speedway and a year later, raced at, and bought shares in Huset’s Speedway. He won 2 feature events and was a long time share holder and supporter of Huset’s Speedway.
