(EA Media) February 14, 2016 – Tyler Groenendyk is coming back to sprint car racing in 2016! After a year away to regroup the race team and engine program the #17 will be back competing in the 360 class at the famed Knoxville Raceway! “We are excited to bring back the TGR #17 to Knoxville this year,” said Tyler. “We plan to race nearly every week at Knoxville. My brother is getting married in June so we will miss one week for sure, but otherwise the plan is to be there every week.” After competing in a partial schedule in 2012, earning three top five finishes in 2013, and only two events in 2014, the 26 year old driver from Oskaloosa has been patiently rebuilding the TGR sprint car team to be prepared for 2016 while farming full time. The team will field an Eagle Chassis and a Parker Performance engine. “Al Parker is arguably the most successful engine builder around the Knoxville Raceway and that gives me a lot of confidence as a driver. We can’t wait to bring the car to Knoxville in April.”

For the fourth consecutive season car owner Kelvin Gale will once again field a Modified for Tyler. The Gale Farms #9 team plans to race across the state of Iowa in 2016, primarily at Tyler’s home track in Oskaloosa the Southern Iowa Speedway on Wednesday nights. “Kelvin and I plan to run the #9 Modified at Oskaloosa regularly but we are also excited to venture out and compete at other tracks for the spring and fall specials,” commented Tyler. The two-time Oskaloosa B-Mod track champion was able to win five A-Mod features last season and the team is excited to build on their success. “The dirt modified competition is second to none in Iowa. If you win a race here you have earned it.” The #9 will have a crate engine under the hood of their LG2 chassis.

Tyler was raised going to the races nearly from birth with his parents and started racing go karts at the age of six. Later he competed in motocross and before moving up to a modified at age 19. Racing a sprint car at Knoxville Raceway has been a life-long dream for Tyler and he has been able to full-fill that dream briefly for a few years. “We are really excited for the 2016 racing season and hopefully we can find some marketing partners to help support us along the way,” said Tyler.

The Tyler Groenendyk Racing team is actively seeking to work with marketing partners for the 2016 racing season. Racing at Knoxville Raceway in front of a few thousand fans every Saturday night is a great way to promote your brand in front of grass roots race fans in the Midwest!
