We will be making the transition into a 360 Sprint Car for 2016 racing season, and although coming from an open wheel dirt class (Dwarfs) I know they are completely different animals and I am finding myself a little intimidated and lacking in knowledge regarding our endeavour despite my research. We bought an 09 Maxim 86/40 car out of AZ. I have no dyno data on the motor but it runs, doesn't leak or overheat, and I have been able to verify the authenticity of some of the claimed internal components. We are looking forward to running the Young Gun series at the PAS, but also hitting a couple of shows at Santa Maria, Bako, and Ocean. I anticipate a substantial learning curve, knowing darn well seat time and set-up are critical, as well as a solid powerplant and a meticulous maintenance program. So, my questions are:
1. Does the Young Guns series utilize USAC rules, enabling us to run the other venues without substantial changes to the car week to week?
2. Is there anybody for hire as a technical advisor/assistant while at the races?
3. What type of spares should I amass before the start of the season?
4. Are there any specialty tools I should aquire?
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated as the season will be upon us very soon.
Respectfully,
Chris and Hannah Mayhew

I would reach out to Steve "Biggie" Watts of SWE, Maxwell Industries, Waxim, etc. He usually has a car or two at these shows and certainly knows as well as anyone what to bring. Good luck and have fun! See ya there!

Perris has the Young Guns rules posted on their website - It won't post as a hyperlink, so just cut and paste it. http://www.perrisautospeedway.com/forms/rules_youngguns.html

We run a 360 with the USAC West Coast 360's and will be at many of the shows as well. Feel free to ask or pit next to us. Look for the #97 Matt Day sprint car. I'm also on FB. See you at the races!
