I really hope this gets worked out somehow . Selinsgrove is a great speedway , maybe too fast at times but a good track .Everyone there has done a great job . I wish someone would really buy it from fairboard or fire company , but times are tough , money is hard to come by now in this economy . Maybe it will become a special events only track ? possibly as the last few years are evident that it wasn't supported as a weekly track , because fan and car counts were down . Only the high profile races got the support , but a lot teams can't afford to tow there and they have there own reasons for not going to Selinsgrove ??

Good point made by Mr. Wizzard ,maybe there date or Hagerstown 's to SSP ? Getting a date at SSP would give Scott Gobrecht a financial shot he could use to help him with his improvement costs .

Or they could just stop giving Port Royal or Lincoln the Thursday night date every year and give it to Susky. Either way, Susky belongs on the Speedweek schedule. Hopefully it happens.

While I have no problem with everyone's desire to see a speedweek race at Susky you all seem all too willing to bury Selinsgrove. Why do 410 fans seem to hate Selinsgrove so much? I am a regular at both Port Royal and Selinsgrove. While Selinsgrove has its bad days so do the rest of the tracks. 360/358 racing is often just a good for the fans as 410 racing is. It almost feels that many of you would rather all of the other classes disapper. Well maybe the 305 class does thin the field for the other classes and is not a good class for the 1/2 mile tracks. Or is it just Selinsgrove you don't like? We don't need to see ANY track close. If it was Charlie you didn't like- remember he is gone. Let's see what the next promoter does. I've heard lot of complaints about the Williams Grove promoters this year but I don't hear anyone wanting to see its events moved to other tracks. Selinsgrove has a great history, a great potential, and many very dedicated fans. As for "fan count" I have seen many more empty seats at Williams Grove than I do at Selinsgrove With Williams Grove being in a much more populated area. I also remember when it was Port that was considered the dump of area tracks. More of the "ebb and flow" of dirt track racing......

I for one don't hate or dislike Selinsgrove , it is actually one of my favorite tracks . I agree with you that Port Royal and Selinsgrove are two of the finest tracks in Central Pa . Williams Grove is my least favorite track since the rude owner inherited it , the track is not consistent as it use to be , but people like it because of the history and other reasons. The unfortunate times have changed because of the economy , most teams don't like to travel there or other reasons they don't like it , not sure exactly why .But I personally have seen some of the best 360 racing there that is sometimes better then the 410 shows at other tracks . But the track size , with the addition of new clay coming and other improvements , Susquehanna should be added to the Speedweek schedule and delete Hagerstown not Selinsgrove .

Unlimited CID, SOD tire rule & Doty wing angle rule and they would be running unlimited sprint cars there every week like they did 30 years ago.
They don't even know how to spell sprint car
much less chromoly...http://www.ycmco.com

He's right Bob. Where the hell do you get this notion that we need to get rid of a track? The Thursday date has floated back and forth between Port Royal and Lincoln every other year since Susky was taken off the schedule. Just give the Thursday date back to Susky and go back to Lincoln having the first Saturday and Port Royal getting the 2nd one. This isn't that hard to figure out. There's no reason Hagerstown should be taken off the schedule at this point. I don't give a shit if it's in Maryland. That's just a technicality and a stupid one at that. Hagerstown is well within reach of the Central Pa circuit and the last few years, they've done well with track prep for their speedweek show. The first couple of years, the track was terrible and I was all in favor of taking them off the schedule but they've really stepped up their game the last 3 years and have done very well with car counts so they should stay on the schedule if they want to. I know Williams Grove gets 2 shows but that's really just a perk of being the Friday night track. I don't have a problem with them having 2 shows since they always ran a regular show on the Friday before speedweek anyway and I don't even have a problem with Port and Lincoln alternating the Thursday date every year if there's no one else to fill the date but if Susky wishes to be on the schedule, just give them back their Thursday date. This isn't really that hard to figure out. Wiz is right. It's just another instance where you opened your mouth and said something stupid without thinking it through.

Totally agree. I see no reason to take Selinsgrove off the schedule. The only issue I have with Selinsgrove is the amount of shit in the middle of the track blocking the view from the bleachers but its still a great track and I try to make it to every 410 show there.

I'd be OK with that for sure. As long as Hagerstown keeps up the good track prep, that will continue to be one of my favorite shows of the year. When that place is right, it is SCARY fast and the racing is usually pretty good too.

Just saying dude, think about the practicality of things before you open your mouth. We're all guilty of sticking out foot in our mouths sometimes but you have a habit of just spewing ideas without actually thinking about how practical they are. Just some constructive criticism

I have an idea, instead of taking the Thursday show from two of the tracks that keep 410 alive in Central Pa. How about the three tracks that do keep 410 racing alive here just run the the series on their own and not give any dates to the tracks that freeload a good payday off their efforts any dates. I don't understand why everyone always wants to take that date from Lincoln and Port when without Williams Grove, Lincoln and Port there would be no 410 racing here except when we are blessed with an apearance by the Outlaws like it is in much of the country.

No disrespect intended but your idea makes some of the stuff that Altman comes off with sound like Einstein's theory of relativity. That would be the shittiest speedweek ever. The most appealing part of Speedweek is the variety of tracks that they run at during the course of the series. I don't think it would be much fun to watch them run 9 races at the same 3 tracks that they run at every week. You're right. Those tracks do keep the 410 sprints alive and well in Central Pa but I don't think you should turn your nose up at the tracks who race other divisions but have a well paying special show or 2 every year for the 410 guys.

Not turning my nose up to any track. I just don't understand some people's idea that the tracks that keep 410 racing alive here don't deserve a better shot at a good payday than the others. How many times do those two track only get one of their two in anyway. It just gives them better odds of not being shut out.
