USAC WEST COAST SPRINTS RUMBLE AT HANFORD’S “JIM EVETT MEMORIAL”
By Lance Jennings

SEPTEMBER 29, 2015... This Saturday, October 3rd, the USAC West Coast Sprint Cars will make their final appearance of the year at the Keller Auto Speedway at Kings Fairgrounds. Promoted by Ron Vander Weerd and Bubby Morse, the “Jim Evett Memorial” will also feature the Honda USAC Western Midgets and Western RaceSaver Sprint Cars. The pit gates will open at 2:00pm, the front gates open at 4:30pm, and racing is scheduled for 7:00pm. For more information, visit the track’s website at www.racekingsspeedway.com or call 559.651.1990.

Saturday's point race honors Jim Evett, a longtime supporter of racing in California. Well respected in the pit area, Evett is perhaps best known for supporting the efforts of his grandson Jonathan Logan. Competing on a budget, the team raced with the non-winged 360s of the Central Valley and occasionally with the SCRA and USAC/CRA 410s. In 2006, Logan and Evett enjoyed one of their best seasons and earned the SCRA 360 Championship. The partnership continued with modest success until Jim's passing in 2010 and Jonathan still races in his grandfather's memory. This Saturday night, the Evett family has raised an extra $3,000 in lap money with $100 going to the leader of each lap. Logan will join the action and will be looking for his first USAC West Coast victory.

Saturday’s event will be the 41st West Coast Sprint Car event at the Kings County Fairgrounds. Since March 14, 2009, Ryan Bernal and Richard Vander Weerd lead all drivers with seven Hanford victories. Veteran Peter Murphy holds the 1-lap qualifying track record of 15.290, set on March 13, 2010 and a Hanford win list is at the bottom of this release.

NOTICE TO RACERS: Saturday’s race at Hanford will be run under the USAC West Coast Rule Book and a $35 entry fee will be collected. The Hoosier 105/16 Medium is the ONLY legal right rear tire and all four corners must be Hoosier. Cockpit adjustable shocks are NOT allowed and engine restrictor rules are 1-7/8” with open heads and 2-3/16” with ASCS cylinder heads. The weight rule is 1,475 lbs. with driver. Keller Auto Speedway at Kings Fairgrounds has 95db at 100 feet state mandated sound rule and the USAC West Coast Sprint Car Rule Book can be found online at www.westcoastsprintcars.com and www.usacracing.com.
