MARTINSVILLE, Va. – NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Kyle Larson fainted during an autograph session on Saturday at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway and will miss Sunday’s STP 500 at the recommendation of doctors.
A FOX Sports report stated that Larson, who is 18th in Sprint Cup points, was awake and alert and seemed fine during tests at Martinsville Memorial Hospital after fainting Saturday afternoon. He was then sent to a neurologist at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, N.C., for precautionary reasons.
The team said in a statement that Larson was evaluated and all tests came back negative. However, doctors felt he should be held for more testing. As a result, he will miss Sunday’s STP 500 at Martinsville Speedway. The team has named Regan Smith to drive the No. 42 Target Chevrolet today at Martinsville.
